Please prepare one of the sides at https://www.orlandoshakes.org/about-us/auditions/ . You may also prepare a monologue of your own choosing less than 2 minutes in length.
For Kinky Boots, prepare a monologue of your choice. Singers/actors should additionally prepare a brief cut of a song in the style of the show. You may also use the accompaniment at https://www.orlandoshakes.org/about-us/auditions/ . Video length for Kinky Boots sides combined should be no longer than 4 minutes total. Dancing will only be required at callbacks.
Actors submitting for roles in both our LOA and SPT seasons may use the same audition video for both.

DOTTY OTLEY / MRS. CLACKET: (She/Her/Hers. Any Ethnicity. 40s-50s). (Off stage Dotty) A middle-aged British television star, top-billed star in the play and principal investor. Forgetful. Dating much younger Garry, though she attempts to make him jealous by meeting with Freddy. (On Stage Character: Mrs. Clackett): A Cockney Housekeeper for the Brent's home in England. Hospitable, though slow.
GARRY LEJEUNE / ROGER: (He/Him/His. Any Ethnicity. 30s). (Off stage: Garry) The play's leading man, pompous and self-absorbed. Always completing sentences with, you know... Easily fired up, repeatedly tries to attack Freddy after believing that Dotty was cheating on him with Freddy. Speech affectations disappear onstage but are ever- present offstage. Dating Dotty. Character does a pratfall going down a staircase. (On Stage Character: Roger): An English Real estate agent who is attempting to rent Flavia's and Phillip's home, but uses it for his own personal benefit.
FREDERICK FELLOWS / PHILIP BRENT / SHEIKH: (He/Him/His. Any Ethnicity. 30s). (Off stage: Freddy) An actor with a serious fear of violence and blood. Well-meaning, but not too bright. Gets nosebleeds easily. Often questions the meaning of his lines and moves. Blames himself often for things going wrong. (On Stage Character: Phillip Brent): An Englishman who lives out of the country with his wife Flavia to avoid paying taxes. He enters the country knowing that if he is caught by Inland Revenue, he will lose most of the year's income. (On Stage Character: Sheikh): Middle-Eastern, interested in renting Flavia's and Phillip's home and is the spitting image of Phillip.
BELINDA BLAIR / FLAVIA BRENT: (She/Her/Hers. Any Ethnicity. 30s). (Off stage Belinda): Cheerful and sensible, a reliable actress, cast mother. She may have feelings for Freddy. (On Stage Character: Flavia Brent): Phillip Brent's English wife. She is dependable, though not one for household duties.
BROOKE ASTON / VICKI: (She/Her/Hers. Any Ethnicity. 20s). (Off Stage: Brooke) young, inexperienced actress from London, gorgeous, oblivious, distracted. Pays no attention to other performers, either in performance or backstage. She seems as though she is not really present – like she is somewhere else inside her head. Is always losing her contact lenses. One-third of a Lloyd–Poppy–Brooke love triangle. (On Stage Character: Vicki): An English woman who works for Inland Revenue and is trying to woo Roger. Appears in bra and panties.
LLOYD DALLAS: (He/Him/His. Any Ethnicity. 40s). Pretentious and moody director of the play within the play (Nothing On), sarcastic sense of humor. Temperamental. One third of a Lloyd–Poppy–Brooke love triangle.
POPPY NORTON-TAYLOR: (She/Her/Hers. Any Ethnicity. 30s). ASM and understudy to the female roles. Mousy and shy, easily flustered. Emotional and over-sensitive, and envious of Brooke, whom she understudies. Pregnant with Lloyd's baby. One-third of a Lloyd-Poppy-Brooke love triangle.
TIMOTHY ALLGOOD: (He/Him/His. Any Ethnicity. 20s). Inexperienced, overworked, stressed Stage Manager of the play within the play, understudy to the male roles in the play within the play.
SELSDON MOWBRAY / BURGLAR: (He/Him/His. 60s-70s). (Off Stage: Selsdon Mowbray): An elderly alcoholic Englishman who hides his bottles onstage. If he is not in sight while rehearsing, the stage crew must find him before he passes out. Is hard of hearing when he wants to be. (On Stage Character: Burglar): Old Cockney man in his seventies, breaking into the Brent's home.

LOLA/SIMON (he/him/his. Early 30’s. Black) A prize fighter’s physique draped in satin. A cross-dresser with a killer voice and winning ways. British accent. Comedic chops. C3–B4.
NICOLA (she/her/hers. 20’s.) Charlie’s long-term girlfriend. She is a social climber, driven and uncompromising. She knows what she wants and goes for it. British accent. Pop voice. Bâ3–Fâ¯5.
LAUREN (she/her/hers. 20’s.) Beautiful and strong working class girl. Funny and smart but has had bad luck with men. British accent. A terrific comic. Belt and pop. Bâ3–Fâ¯5.
DON (he/him/his. 30s-40s) Lola’s nemesis. Burly hypermasculine bear of a factory worker. Has a menacing physicality. Least likely to be seen on a runway in kinky boots. British accent. C3–F4 (has a strong falsetto to D5 for the Finale).
GEORGE (he/him/his. 30s-40s.) Factory manager keeping up traditions. Reserved and tightly wound. British accent. C3–F4.
THE ANGELS Drag performers who populate THE BLUE ANGEL NIGHTCLUB. Tumbling and acrobatic skills are a plus (one angel will back handspring and another does splits). Contemporary pop/rock/R & B belt. Three Angels sing to Câ¯5 and three sing to A4.
MR PRICE/ENSEMBLE (he/him/his. 40’s - 50’s.) Charlie’s father in the opening and closing sequences. British accent.

PAT (she/her/hers. 30s-50s) Officious office manager who will let loose her wild side when allowed. Bâ3–Fâ¯5. British accent.
TRISH (she/her/hers. 30s-40s.) Factory worker with a husband and kids to worry over. A lot of life experience and a lot of responsibility–this shows in her face. Comedy chops. Bâ3–D5.
