BENTLEY SUMMERHAYES - 20's. Son of Lord Summerhayes. Physically small youth. More brains than body. Spoilt, childish, sensitive with a good mind. Engaged to Hypatia Tarleton.

HYPATIA TARLETON - 20's. High-spirited, unconventional young girl. Daughter of John Tarleton. A Glorious young beast.

MRS. TARLETON - [ROLE CAST] 60's. Shrewd, motherly lady. Pleasant, likeable, unaffected. Wife of John Tarleton.

LORD SUMMERHAYS - 50's-60's. Aristocratic. Good humored, affable, not a snob. In love with Hypatia.

JOHN TARLETON - 60's. Wealthy. New money from Tarleton's Underwear. Superabundant vitality. Flamboyant. Genial veteran of trade. Great reader and a man of Ideas.

JOEY PERCIVAL - 28 years old. Aviator, a young gentleman of distinction. Vitality and authenticity. Attracted to Hypatia.

LINA SZCZEPANOWSKA - 30's. Polish acrobat and aviator. Independent woman, statuesque. Subject of much male attraction.

JULIUS BAKER (Gunner) - 20's. A clerk, Volatile, angry. Intent on revenging the death of his mother. Romantic world view. Both submissive and violent.
