HEDWIG - Genderfluid. She is of an indeterminate age somewhere between her 30s and 50s. A slip of a girly boy from Communist East Berlin turned internationally ignored song stylist. Born Hansel Schmidt, Hedwig underwent a botched sex change operation to escape Berlin and come stateside. A true rockstar. Her boisterous and cocky nature belies her naivete and hopeful optimism. They have a penchant for philosophy and struggle with their gender identity, which causes them deep pain and confusion.
YITZHAK - Nonbinary. They are somewhere between 20 and 40. Hedwig's partner. A former drag queen who married Hedwig to leave Zagreb and come stateside. Devoted, loyal, loving, and perhaps more talented than Hedwig--a fact that causes much strain on their relationship. Yitzhak fully accepts themself but struggles with being caught under Hedwig's controlling thumb. Unafraid of rebellion in small, controlled doses.
