BREAKDOWN
THE RECEPTIONIST
SEEKING:
BEVERLY WILKINS — Late 40s to early 60s. The receptionist of a branch office of a larger company. Sociable, organized, family oriented, good at her job. Detail oriented, she works well with others and is in full control of her area.
LORRAINE TAYLOR — 20s. A junior manager in the branch office. Socially she treats Beverly as a mother figure of sorts, in whom she confides. Lorraine is terrible at her love life, about which she makes chronically bad choices, is gullible, and optimistic to a ridiculous degree. This is in contrast to her real abilities in work and life, where she is practical, decisive and able to compartmentalize.
EDWARD RAYMOND — 50s–60s. Their boss and the head of the branch office. A young grandfather, he’s a capable and kind man, who is able to dissociate his work from his life to a degree. Businesslike, but avuncular. Goes about his job capably, like the pro that he is.
MARTIN DART — Late 20s to early 30s. From the central office, he arrives looking for Mr. Raymond. Married with a young child. Confident and affable, a bit of a jock, a bit of a flirt; he’s a charmer who may not play by the rules, but he certainly enforces them.
