ArtsFairfax awarded $601,900 in Operating Support Grants to 65 local arts nonprofits across Fairfax County, an increase of $10,000 and nine grantees over the previous fiscal year.

Ballet Virginia is a non-profit ballet academy and professional company serving coastal Virginia, founded in 2008 by Suzanne Lownsbury and Janina Michalski. Its main location is a restored historic building at 700 21st Street in Norfolk housing five studios; a second academy opened in Virginia Beach in 2019 alongside a full-time professional company. The academy teaches over 400 students through a Children's Program of ballet and tap for ages 18 months to nine, a Lower School of ballet and modern for ages seven and up, an Upper School and BV II track, and an adult program in ballet and contemporary for ages 14 and up. Students perform alongside professionals, including in The Nutcracker.
