About this studio
Groove With Me (GWM) is a non-profit free dance school for girls in East Harlem, New York. Its stated mission is to attract and engage girls during the idle after-school hours when 90% of youth violence occurs, instilling life skills such as creativity, problem-solving, perseverance, focus, dedication and accountability, and building the self-confidence and self-respect needed to make positive choices. Programming is free and comprises dance classes, a summer camp, a Teen Leadership Committee and Pre-TLC, workshops and events, and parent engagement, taught by a staff of teaching artists and supported by volunteers.
