AILEY, the Alvin Ailey Dance Foundation, is a New York-based dance organization that traces its history to the company's first concert in 1958. It enriches the field of dance and shares the African American cultural experience through performances, training, classes and community programs, under the banner 'Dance Is for Everybody'. Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater tours internationally and appears annually at New York City Center. The Ailey School, the organization's official school, offers conservatory-level training for students ages 3 to 25, while Ailey Extension provides drop-in open dance classes for people of all ages, backgrounds and experience levels, taught by world-renowned instructors.
