Dayton Contemporary Dance Company (DCDC) is a professional modern dance company based in Dayton, Ohio, founded in 1968 and describing itself as a leader in African-American dance. Now approaching its sixtieth year, the company performs a subscription season at venues including the Victoria Theatre and the University of Dayton, tours nationally, and can be booked for engagements; recent programs include Spectra, (Re)Singing From The Underspace, Ever Forward and The Littlest Angel. Michael Kaiser, president emeritus of the Kennedy Center, has called it one of the greatest arts institutions in the nation. Alongside performance, DCDC runs community engagement and arts education outreach on the principle that dance is for everyone, with programming scheduled on request rather than as a fixed public class timetable, and it posts professional training opportunities and company auditions.
