Xanadu at Theatre Three

Get ready to laugh, sing, and skate your way into a wildly fun fantasy as Xanadu, the cult classic musical comedy, dazzles the stage at Theatre Three. Based on the 1980 film of the same name, Xanadu is a glitter-drenched love letter to the power of art, dreams, and legwarmers. With a hilarious book by Douglas Carter Beane and an electrifying score by Jeff Lynne and John Farrar featuring hits like “Magic,” “Suddenly,” “Evil Woman,” and, of course, “Xanadu,” this jukebox musical brings the roller-disco era roaring back to life. 

The story follows Kira, a Greek muse, sent from Mount Olympus to inspire a struggling artist in Venice Beach to create the world’s first roller disco. But when she breaks the rules and falls in love with him, all mythical chaos breaks loose – complete with jealous sisters, outrageous costumes, and soaring musical numbers. 

Unlike the usual versions of the show that you may have seen before, this version of Xanadu is something that only T3 and the brilliant mind of director Joel Ferrel could produce. With a cast of 5 multi-talented actors (and skaters), a live band on the set, projections, lighting effects, and more sequins than you could shake your booty at, this is a one-of-a-kind T3 experience that you will not want to miss. You may have “seen it before”, but believe us, you have not seen it like this.   

Also, as a special addition for this production, audiences will be invited to join a “Dance Party in Xanadu” immediately following the performances on Friday and Saturday evenings. The live band will keep playing hits, the bar will remain open, and even members of the cast may come join in the fun! (The dance party will NOT take place during “preview” performances, nor following the matinee performances on 6/28/25 or 7/4/25)
