Emily Short |
Emily Short is in her 4th year of teaching high school English but is a lifelong learner. She attended University of Kentucky for her BA in Secondary English Education and a minor in Communications. She then attended The Ohio State University for her MA in Education, specializing in Integrated Language Arts.
Over the course of Emily’s schooling and professional career, her love for writing and reading has continuously deepened. She enjoys writing sincerely about her own life and the situations that have influenced who she is. Her favorite genre to read is nonfiction because she can learn about those same types of situations in others’ lives. She believes her passion for writing and reading the truth lends itself to her love for theatre—a place where stories, true or not, feel real.
Starting with attending her high school’s production of Hairspray, Emily developed a love for theatre. Whether she is laughing hysterically or overwhelmed with heartache, the unfeigned abilities of the actors often leave her in awe.
Emily also enjoys spending time listening to live music, running, trying new foods, and spending time with her family (who just moved from Columbus, Ohio to McKinney, Texas!). She is excited to further explore the Dallas theatre scene and share her experiences with her students—oh, and BroadwayWorld!
