Soul Rep Theatre Company presents GEM OF THE OCEAN by August Wilson, running from February 5 to February 22, 2026, at the South Dallas Cultural Center. Directed by Jemal McNeil, this play, set in 1904, serves as the first chronologically in Wilson's American Century Cycle, addressing themes of ancestry, migration, and the quest for freedom in post-Reconstruction America. The narrative follows Citizen Barlow on a transformative journey guided by Aunt Ester, a 285-year-old spiritual figure. This production continues Soul Rep's commitment to August Wilson's legacy, showcasing the impact of Black survival and identity.
