It's a safe assumption that if you are female, you have more than likely already emptied a box of Kleenex over "Steel Magnolias" at some point in your life. The 1989 movie version which featured an iconic cast, has deservedly earned its chick-flick staple status. However, as a sold-out crowd at the Riffe Center would attest, it's a show that is at once classic and ageless, with its development of the deep friendship that 6 southern women develop as they mingle regularly at the town's beauty parlor.

The international hit show Menopause The Musical has identified Columbus as a 'hot' national market and will play the Southern Theatre for 6 performances from April 24-27. Set in a department store, four women with seemingly nothing in common meet by chance at a lingerie sale, but a sisterhood is soon created between these diverse women as they realize that menopause is no longer 'The Silent Passage.' The all-female cast makes fun of their woeful hot flashes, forgetfulness, mood swings, wrinkles, night sweats, and chocolate binges in this laughter-filled, 90-minute musical parody set to classic tunes from the '60s, '70s and '80s.
