The Broadway Musical INTO THE WOODS by Stephen Sondheim. A fractured fairytale that deftly exposes the dangers of enchantment with the warning: "Be careful what you wish for." The story follows the tangle of fairy-tale character's lives when a Witch sends the Baker and His Wife on a journey into the woods to find four items that will undo the curse laid on the Witch many years ago. The story twists and unfolds, revealing other curses, shocking ramifications of wishes-granted, strains on love, fidelity, and childhood bonds. "Happily ever after" is the goal. "There are always wolves" is the revelation. Getting through the journey and learning to cope is the promise and the hope.
