The Living Canvas Experience at Bramble Arts Loft

An Exhibition Celebrating 25 Years of Art and the Body.

The Living Canvas celebrates the beauty and expressive power of the human form through performance art and photography, nurturing a sense of body acceptance for performer/collaborator and audience.

For the first time, there will be an exhibit of decades of Living Canvas photography — the same photography that inspired the performances. The exhibit, with over 100 images, opens on July 30 at Bramble Arts Loft on Clark and runs through August 8.

And on August 7, as a 25th-anniversary celebration of The Living Canvas performances, there will be a performance at Bramble as well (7 p.m. and 9 p.m., tickets required). Note: contains nudity.

The Living Canvas is the creation of photographer Pete Guither, who has specialized in photography of the body as canvas since 1986, using the texture of projected images, along with light and shadow, to capture the intricacies and expressiveness of the nude form. Guither's award-winning work has been featured online and presented in various galleries and publications, as well as a United Nations presentation (“Furrows and Deltas: The Erogenous Zones of Mother Earth”). His extensive background includes theatre, dance, visual arts, arts technology and music.
