Black Bear Island is a gothic magical realistic thriller set in the Pacific Northwest, written by Bramble Artistic Director Karissa Murrell Myers and directed by Jonathan Berry. When Amitra's estranged childhood sweetheart mysteriously dies, she returns to Black Bear Island, said to be haunted by a monstrous man-killing bear, and as she searches for the truth, her past and present begin to collide as her memory unfogs. The play explores regret, the unreliability of memory, and the paths people choose in becoming who they are, and won the Maxim Mazumdar New Play Award in 2023. The cast features Carolyn Hu Bradbury, Christopher Acevedo, Suzy Krueckeberg, Noelle Oh, Thomas B. Tran, Jesse James Hoover, and David Stobbe.
