Inspector General Upcovers Corruption in Upstate Theatre Group

According to a report by the New York Times, Patricia Snyder of the New York State Theatre Institute has been accused by the inspector general's office of illegal conduct. The artistic director was accused of using the state's money to enrich herelf and her family. The theatre group reportedly recieves much more funding than any of the state's other cultural institutions.

Auditions will be held on Saturday, March 27 from 10:00 - 4:00 at Homer High School, 80 South West Street (Route 281), Exit 12 off Route 81 in Homer. Productions include 'Spider's Web,' 'See How They Run,' 'The Pajama Game,' 'Brigadoon,' 'Six Dance Lessons in Six Weeks,' and 'The Andrews Brothers'.

Glimmerglass Opera Balances Budget for 2010

Glimmerglass Opera has significantly reduced its 2010 operating expenses in order to balance the company budget. The company's board of trustees recently approved a $5.6 million budget, which is about $1 million less than in recent years. The 2010 Festival will be presented as planned, with four fully-staged productions running July 9 through August 24 in Cooperstown, New York.
