Hudson Stage Company to Present A KIND OF ALASKA & A NUMBER in Rep, 5/1-17

Hudson Stage Company announces its spring mainstage production, a first in theatrical history. Two British plays will be paired: A KIND OF ALASKA by Harold Pinter with A NUMBER by Caryl Churchill. With special permission granted by the late Sir Harold Pinter?s widow, Lady Antonia Fraser, as a rare exception because he greatly admired Ms. Churchill?s work, this will be an opportunity for audiences to witness two of England?s greatest playwrights in tandem. This not-to-be-missed event will run for three weekends only May 2nd-17th.

Chinglish is Tony Award-Winning playwright David Henry Hwang's hilarious new comedy about the misadventures of miscommunication. It tells the story of an American businessman, Daniel Cavanaugh, who travels to a bustling Chinese province looking to score a lucrative contract in properly translated signs. But the deal isn't the only thing lost in translation as he tangles with a government official, a bumbling consultant, and a surprisingly sexy bureaucrat along the way. Chinglish performs February 26-March 16 in the Archbold Theatre at the Syracuse Stage/Drama Complex. BroadwayWorld has a first look at the cast in action below!

Hangar Theatre's Lab Company Seeks Applications; Runs 6/1-7/27

The Hangar Theatre is accepting applications for its nationally recognized theatre-training program, the Lab Company, which runs from June 1 through July 27, 2014. The Lab Company, which welcomes advanced undergraduates and recent college graduates, provides classroom training and performance opportunities for young professionals in acting, directing, choreography, design, and play writing. The program's focus is on professional experience, gearing up new artists for careers in the theatre. The Hangar will welcome approximately 25 artists to participate in the Lab Company this summer.

Need a few good laughs to shake off the winter doldrums? The Cortland Repertory Theatre Guild's Mystery Dinner Theatre production of 'LOW NOON' is the perfect solution! This annual fundraiser promises big laughs, great food and a touch of murder in the elegant setting of the Cortland Ramada Inn Ballroom at 2 River Street, near exit 11 off Route 81. Two performances of this interactive comedy are scheduled: Saturday March 22, and Saturday, March 29. Doors open at 6:30 PM for a welcome reception with the dinner and show starting at 7:00 PM.

The Hangar Theatre's Spring Break-a-Leg program is a one-week musical theatre camp from April 14-18 offering 4th- through 6th-graders the chance to experience all aspects of performance in a fast-moving, fun, and professional theatre environment. By week's end, participants will create an exciting, original musical theatre piece to present in front of friends and family on the Hangar stage!
Powerhouse Theater Training Program Now Accepting 2014 Applications Through 4/16

When they were still aspiring young artists Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Ayad Akhtar, TV star Josh Radnor, and two-time Tony Award-nominated actress Melissa Erico each spent a transformative summer in the Powerhouse Theater Training Program. Now in its thirtieth year, the renowned annual program at Vassar College will run from June 20-July 27, 2014 and is currently accepting applications. Participants choose a curriculum focused on acting, playwriting, or directing, and together form an Apprentice Company that performs works for the public. The program is available to rising high school seniors through college-age students, as part of the prestigious Powerhouse Theater collaboration between Vassar and New York Stage and Film.

Park Playhouse, The Capital Region of New York's free summer theatre, has announced the title that will open their upcoming 26th Season. The outdoor theatre in Albany's Washington Park will open their summer season with the Local Premiere of the new musical Hands on a Hardbody. The musical, which played a run on Broadway in 2013, will be appearing at a regional theatre in the Northeast for the first time during it's run at Park Playhouse from July 1-26, 2014.

Starting tonight, January 22nd is David Ives' Tony Award-winning Broadway hit Venus in Fur, a comedy about sexual power, power plays, and the power of Love - the Goddess of Love, that is. The New York Times called it '90 minutes of good, kinky fun.' Preview performances are tonight, January 22, 23, and 24. Opening Night is January 25th, and the play closes February 9.
