Jim Schubin and Brian Vu Win Top Prizes in 2016 Lotte Lenya Competition

Jim Schubin of Plainsboro, NJ, and Brian Vu of Los Angeles, both earned top prizes in the 2016 Lotte Lenya Competition, sponsored by the Kurt Weill Foundation for Music and held on April 16, 2016 in Kilbourn Hall of the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY.
Anna Carol to Bring AUNT NONA to Catskill's Bridge Street Theatre

Playwright/Performer Anna Carol brings her hilarious North Dakotan alter ego to the Bridge Street Theatre in Catskill for three performances only, April 29, 30, and May 1 in "An Evening with Aunt Nona". Directed by Joshua Chase Gold, Aunt Nona first appeared in 2014 at the University of Central Florida, then toured the Midwest before her New York City debut at the United Solo Festival in September of 2015. 
Ithaca College Scenic Designer Lands a Spot in USITT Mentorship Program

Ithaca College senior Randy Wong-Westbrooke, a theatrical production arts major concentrating in theatrical design, was selected for the United States Institute for Theatre Technology (USITT) Gateway mentorship program. It provides mentorships for students that are underrepresented based on race/ethnicity, disability, gender, and sexual orientation.

Tangent Theatre Company, based in their intimate Carpenter Shop Theater in Tivoli, announces their Spring 2016 main-stage production: the award-winning Circle Mirror Transformation by Annie Baker. Set in a small Vermont town, the story centers around a local acting class and the truths revealed as the group's time together unfolds. In addition to the featured female playwright, the show will spotlight a wide range of female talents: three acting artists, the director, producer, set and lighting designers, wardrobe supervisor and house manager are all established women in the field.

BWW Review: LIVING ON LOVE at Curtain Call Theatre

It's obvious that theatre nowadays has begun to stray from the cute, playful shows of the 1950s, in which plots were thin and laughs were large. And rightfully so, as after a certain point, one craves to feel moved and inspired by a piece. But something about Joe DiPietro's Living on Love, which opened April 1st at the Curtain Call Theatre, makes me wish that these old time farces will soon make a comeback.

Streisand is coming to Cortland!  Not only that, she's bringing her friends Cher, Dolly, Liza, Adele and more when The Dozen Divas arrive at Cortland Repertory Theatre Downtown on Friday and Saturday, April 15 and 16.  Even more amazing, all these divas come wrapped up in one person: international performer and "America's Got Talent" finalist Dorothy Bishop. This multi-talented singer and impersonator will perform her live - not lip-synced - production at the new CRT Downtown theatre at 24 Port Watson Street in Cortland.  Doors will open at 7:00 and the performance begins at 7:30.
Blues and Jazz Vocalist Madeleine Peyroux to Perform at Syracuse Stage Gala

?A young woman seeking redemption helps a weary Wisconsin town re-discover its value while finding the meaning of home in the Syracuse University Department of Drama's production of the 2001 Off-Broadway musical The Spitfire Grill. Based on Lee David Zlotoff's 1996 film of the same name, The Spitfire Grill won the Richard Rodgers Award for New American Musical and was nominated for Best Off-Broadway Musical by the New York Outer Critics Circle and the Drama League.
