Tom Hanks to Reunite with Meg Ryan in ITHACA?

The Hollywood Reporter writes that Sleepless in Seattle co-stars Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan might reunite in the upcoming film ITHACA, based on William Saroyan's novel The Human Comedy. Hanks is in talks for a cameo appearance in addition to executive producing the feature. ITHACA is Ryan's directorial debut.

This would be the fourth time Hanks and Ryan have appeared side-by-side on the silver screen, after Joe Versus the Volcano, Sleepless in Seattle and You've Got Mail.

Erik Jendresen (Band of Brothers) adapted the script for ITHACA, and Ryan will direct and also star alongside Sam Shepard, Melanie Griffith and Jack Quaid.

ITHACA follows "14-year-old Homer Macauley, a telegraph bike messenger. His older brother has gone to fight in World War II, leaving him to care for his widowed mother, his older sister and his four-year-old brother, Ulysses. The effects of the war are revealed as Homer delivers messages of love, friendship, pain and death, including one message that alters his own life forever."

Hanks would play Macauley's father in flashbacks.

The actor's upcoming big screen projects include A Hologram for the King and The Lost Symbol. He recently starred in Saving Mr. Banks, Captain Phillips, Cloud Atlas, Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close and Toy Story 3. He won both a Golden Globe and an Academy Award for his roles in Philadelphia and Forrest Gump. Hanks made his Broadway debut last year in Nora Ephron's Lucky Guy.
