The sophisticated farce, with music and libretto by Thomas, will be performed by an ensemble of eight superb singers starring Joy Hermalyn, whose credits include Broadway productions of Candide, Cyrano, Fiddler on the Roof, Baz Luhrmann's La Bohene, and numerous City Center Encores!, to name a few. She leads an exceptional cast who have appeared with opera companies in the U.S. and abroad. Jovanovich is currently rehearsing for next month's revival of Shostakovich's Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk at the Met. He sang the October 13 performance of Carmen substituting for Antonenko as well.

George Frideric Handel's magical Alcina is a Baroque masterpiece and premiered in London in 1735. This production will mark Opera Atelier's first major Handel production at the Elgin Theatre. Alcina tells the story of a sorceress whose world is a mirage composed of the souls of her past lovers, and the Christian knight Ruggiero who is destined to set them free.
