The Chattanooga Symphony & Opera is offering two classical concerts in early November sure to be a hit with classical music audiences. The November 6th Barnett & Company Masterworks Series concert presents Schubert's 4th Symphony, Beethoven's Leonore Overture No. 3, and Sibelius' Violin Concerto featuring guest artist Andrew Sords.

Schubert's 4th Symphony is also known as the "Tragic" Symphony, and was composed by Franz Schubert in April 1816. It was completed when Schubert was 19 years old, but didn't premiere until November 19, 1849, more than two decades after his death. Violinist Andrew Sords joins the CSO musicians for Sibelius' virtuosic and darkly melodic concerto for violin. Sords has performed for over 150 orchestras across four continents and attended the Cleveland Institute of Music. The performance is Thursday, November 6 at 7:30pm at the Tivoli Theatre.

On November 9, the CSO brings back by popular demand its Classical's Top Hits concert at the Volkswagen Conference Center at 3:00pm. For the second year, Music Director Kayoko Dan invited audience members to help program the concert by voting for their favorite pieces among pre-selected choices. On the program are Rossini's The Barber of Seville Overture, the 4th movement of Dvorak's Symphony No. 9, the 2nd movement of Beethoven's Symphony No. 7, Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake Suite, and Rimsky-Korsakov's Capriccio espagnol.

Tickets for both concerts are available by calling the CSO box office at 423.267.8583, visiting the box office Monday through Friday from 10am to 5pm at 701 Broad Street, or online at www.chattanoogasymphony.org. Students can attend either concert for $15 with a valid student I.D. All ticketbuyers are invited to our post-concert casual meet and greet called Postlude with Music Director Kayoko Dan and musicians in the Tivoli Theatre lobby immediately following the Schubert's 4th concert.
