LA Opera Announces 30th Anniversary Season - THE MAGIC FLUTE, MADAME BUTTERFLY & More! by BWW News Desk
- January 28, 2015 Plácido Domingo, LA Opera's Eli and Edythe Broad General Director, has announced the company's 2015/16 season. This will be the 30th season presented by the company, created by Mr. Domingo in collaboration with Richard Seaver Music Director James Conlon and President and CEOChristopher Koelsch. The company's 30th anniversary season will include six mainstage productions and two concerts at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, with a total of 40 performances taking place in that venue, as well as 13 performances presented elsewhere through the company's Off Grand initiative. The season will open onSeptember 12, 2015, and will run through June 19, 2016.

- January 28, 2015 Once upon a time, the Met used to be able to pull off an operetta, like the Rudolf Bing-era FLEDERMAUS, with its Garson Kanin libretto and lyrics by Broadway's Howard Dietz. But for the second year in a row--after last season's dire FLEDERMAUS from writer Douglas Carter Beane and director Jeremy Sams--the company rolled the dice and came up craps. - January 28, 2015 Opera Atelier's 30th Anniversary Seasonwill celebrate the company's status as the busiest touring opera company in North America. A new Canadian production of Mozart's Lucio Silla (Apr. 7-16, 2016) will form the cornerstone of Opera Atelier's anniversary season in Toronto, paired with a revival of its landmark production of Armide (Oct. 22-31, 2015). The company has secured a recurring engagement at the Palace of Versailles and will present one of its Canadian-made productions at the famed Opéra Royal every second year. Armide will return to Versailles following its Toronto run in the fall of 2015. Today's announcement by founding artistic directorsMarshall Pynkoski and Jeannette Lajeunesse Zingg comes just weeks before they make their debuts atLa Scala Opera House in Milan with their celebrated staging of Lucio Silla.
