Retro-Pop Duo Fly By Midnight Premiere 'XL' with Popdust

Following prime opening slots for DAYA and LEON, Fly By Midnight offers a new-age twist on a classic criminal love story in its new video for "XL", which premiered exclusively with Popdust. Known for its infectious, viral covers, the retro-pop duo offers fans a highly anticipated original tune and announces Party Favors due out later this year.

Filmed in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, the video's respective Bonnie and Clyde embark on an adventure after stealing an oversized sweater (perfect for two) from a thrift stop. Fly By Midnight shares "'XL' is a very different track for us. The lyrics, production and overall vibe really embody a more indie side."

Thanks to the pair's meteoric online presence, "XL" racked up nearly 30K Spotify streams within a week of its official drop and now comfortably sits at a growing 70K. Sonically lush, harmonic and polished, its rhythmic, synth-heavy undertones and electronic shreds are reminiscent of early '80s hits that blazed the trail for modern pop, dance and indie rock. The single was self-arranged, produced and engineered by the two halves of Fly By Midnight, multi-instrumentalist Justin Bryte (of MTV's Dream Bigger) and Slavo (The Emergence Music Group). Feels natural that the audio masterminds first met at a casual writing session and thrive while cooking in the studio, prioritizing detail and crisp delivery above all else.

Much of Fly By Midnight's success begins with YouTube, where the pair of songwriters/producers delivered both original music and reimagined covers of fan favorites every week, organically gaining upwards of 190K loyal subscribers and close to 16M total views. The band's recent take on Charlie Puth's "We Don't Talk Anymore" enjoyed international virality with more than 11 million streams in one week.

From Michelle Branch to Calvin Harris, the band's effortless versatility, impressive vocal ability and magnetic presence quickly carried it from computer screens to sold-out college runs and landed it key early support from some of music's biggest tastemakers: The Wrap, Buzzfeed, Spotify's Viral 50 and more, as well as YouTube's #MusicMonday series, Playlist Live & StreamCon, which the band has headlined.

Party Favors, the band's debut full-length, will be available this summer and more U.S. shows announced soon.
