A2SO Receives $10,000 Grant from Chelsea Community Foundation

The Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra received a $10,000 grant from the Chelsea Community Foundation for a two-year project that to bring live, symphonic music opportunities for Chelsea-area residents of all ages. A2SO programs partner with the Chelsea Area Schools, the Chelsea District Library, Silver Maples, and the Chelsea Farmer's Market. Each of the programs are designed to:

Dr. Daniel Goldmark, Director of the Center for Popular Music Studies at Case Western Reserve will be the speaker at the Canton Symphony Orchestra's next ConverZations program.  ConverZations, sponsored by T. K. and Faye A. Heston, are free public discussions featuring a variety of musicians and music-lovers alike.  Goldmark will present “Music and Film” on Monday January 11 at noon at the Zimmermann Symphony Center, 2331 17th Street NW in Canton.  The ConverZations Series will continue on the second Monday of every month through April 2016.

On Saturday, February 6, renowned violinist/violist/conductor Pinchas Zukerman gives a master class for Academy students, free and open to the public, and Chicago Symphony Orchestra (CSO) Principal Clarinetist Stephen Williamson performs chamber music with Academy students. California Symphony Presents Pianist Charlie Albright in Gershwin's RHAPSODY IN BLUE and More, 1/24

WALNUT CREEK, CA (December 15, 2015) – The California Symphony and Music Director Donato Cabrera perform a program of music inspired by American jazz of the 1920s on Sunday, January 24, with pianist Charlie Albright joining the Orchestra for the original jazz band version of Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue. A suite of songs from Kurt Weill's The Threepenny Opera, Bernstein's little-heard Prelude, Fugue, and Riffs, Stravinsky's Scherzo à la russe, and Milhaud's Le création du monde complete the “American Roots” program. The concert is at 4 pm at the Lesher Center for the Arts in Walnut Creek, with a free pre-concert talk with Cabrera beginning at 3 pm.
