MESA, Ariz., Nov. 7, 2017 /PRNewswire/ Key Insights Publishing invites people to experience 100% daily value of essential emotional needs in a new happiness book, Get Your Needs Met!

Author Bob Stahn Ed.M, LCPC, MAC, ICADC, states that emotional needs drive behavior and meeting emotional needs is foundational to mental and physical health. When neglected for too long, effects become disabling and can include: depression, anxiety, sleeplessness headaches, low energy, loss of relationships, loneliness, and stifled happiness.

"Despite our scientific advances many people are not aware of their emotional needs or what symptoms they may experience if these needs are not met," said Stahn, a Licensed Clinical Professional (mental health) Counselor and a Master Addictions Counselor.

"Just as it is common now to see shoppers check nutrition facts on food item, the intent of this book is to raise understanding about emotional facts and the underlying impact emotions have on behavior," he said.

For example, while most people recognize the need for vitamin C, and its important role in boosting the immune system and preventing scurvy, public awareness only began quite recently, in 1968. Food manufacturers were not required to list quantities of nutrients on labels until May 8th, 1998.

Today all forms of media report challenges that occur as a result of unmet emotional needs. Depression, anxiety, abuse and other complaints are on the rise along with costs for treating them.

The United States spent an estimated $201 billion on emotion-based ailments in 2013, according to an analysis published in the Journal of Health Affairs. That makes mental health challenges more costly than heart conditions at $147 billion, and trauma/injury at $143 billion.

Stahn's work counseling people for over 30 years in areas of drug addiction, PTSD, depression, and relationship challenges inspired his book, filled with easily understood analogies, practical tools, action steps and support including:

  • Personal Needs Assessment
  • Tools to eliminate the negative
  • Healthy alternatives to addictive behavior
  • How to increase positive emotional energy
  • Sure ways to Get Your Needs Met

Readers are taught to ask questions in order to determine areas to focus on, for example:

"What do I need?"

"Do I have enough love?"

If not, deficiency symptoms may include lack of energy, focus, drive and joy.

One client who had undergone 17 surgeries found that when her emotional needs were met, there was less reason to escape with pain medication abuse.

A reader said:

"My life is so much better! When our needs are met we have extra energy to give. No more resenting. It makes you happier! Thank you, Bob!"

Bob Stahn has a passion for supporting people to live happy, energy filled lives. One thing Stahn knows after 30 plus years of providing counseling for Air Force and civilian service is that not all people have the education, tools or information to resolve unmet needs. Bob knows what it takes to create a strong pillar for a healthy and happy life. This book is the culmination of his life's work.
