Dr. Philip Emma's New Whodunit Uses Math to Solve a Murder in 'MICKEY MAUX MUDDLES A MURDER'

What happens when a scientist needs to solve a murder? He uses mathematical equations. At least, that's what Mickey Maux does...before framing the murderer.

In "Mickey Maux Muddles a Murder: And Solves Adler's Problem," by Dr. Philip Emma, the author weaves a thought-provoking whodunit, that playfully examines the grey areas of truth and deceit, in the pursuit of justice.

"This case is a puzzle within a puzzle," Emma said. "Our hero is a highly creative genius with a somewhat jaded view of the world, and he invents things to help people; all with unintended consequences, most of them comical."

Emma is a retired scientist, himself, who has published hundreds of articles and contributed to multiple books on technology. He taught at several universities and is a well-known lecturer, columnist and expert witness for patent litigation.

"The solution to the crime uses a well-known mathematical construct about deducing fact, based on information taken from someone who lies and from someone who tells the truth," Emma said," without knowing which is which."

About the Author: Dr. Philip Emma has a PhD in Electrical Engineering and is a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. He recently retired as Chief Scientist from IBM TJ Watson Research Center in Yorktown Heights, New York. He holds over 200 patents and has contributed to numerous books on technology, as well as over 300 articles. He has taught at several universities and is a well-known lecturer in the area of Computer Architecture. He is currently working as an Expert Witness for patent litigation, and is a well-known columnist on the topic of patents and claims.
