Human Movement Project presents two performances of Contradictions + Casual Self Loathing at Riverside Theatre Works on August 8 and 9. This dance theatre piece, originally premiered in 2021, unfolds the complex experience of womanhood through real-life stories that address themes like shame and societal expectations. Featuring an expanded cast including Jessica Chang, Katrina Conte, and Ariana Haddad, the work elicits both the weight of gender-based issues and the lightness of self-discovery. Created by Kim Holman, the immersive performance uses vintage projectors and everyday materials to visually represent the layers of identity that shape individual experiences.
