Commonwealth Shakespeare Company Names New Development Director

Commonwealth Shakespeare Company's Board of Directors, Steven Maler, Founding Artistic Director and Abigail Rollins, General Manager have announced that Joanna Rothman will be CSC's new Director of Development as it enters its 21st Season. The Director of Development is a member of the senior leadership team and is directly responsible for planning, leading and growing the organization's fundraising efforts, including support from individuals, businesses, foundations and government agencies.

New Rep Receives Foundation for MetroWest Grant

New Repertory Theatre received a $7,500 grant from the Foundation for MetroWest to enhance and support Classic Repertory Company (CRC), its flagship educational outreach program. CRC offers 90-minute adapted performances of two significant classic dramatic works specifically to match school schedules with additional curricular units available alongside performances. Funding will support free performances to underserved schools and senior centers in select MetroWest communities.

Berkshire Theatre Group is pleased to announce the 10th annual community production of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol, adapted by Eric Hill and co-directed by Eric Hill and Travis G. Daly, and presented for the fifth time at The Colonial Theatre in Pittsfield. This year's production includes 30 talented young Berkshire county actors, many of whom are returning to the Colonial Theatre, and some who are performing for the first time. A Christmas Carol runs tonight, December 12 through Tuesday, December 22.

Brown Box Theatre Project returns for their Second Annual Evening of Short Plays: BOXER SHORTS II: From Water to Dust / De Agua al Polvo. This year's series will be directed by Talia Curtin and Kyler Taustin and include: Tape by Jose Rivera, Capricho by Nilo Cruz, Springtime by Maria Irene Fornes, and Bliss by Caridad Svich. All four plays feature playwrights of Latin American descent and are tied together by common themes of memory, reflection, and repentance. "This production is inherently collaborative, as it requires much more 'assembly' than a standard full-length play," notes director Talia Curtin. "Multiple directors must work together with designers and actors to meld these individual plays into a cohesive, one-of-a-kind experience."
