Merrimack Repertory Theatre (MRT) invites high schools students to register for Young Company, a professional theatre training program and one of MRT's signature education initiatives. Will Rogers, a creative producer, director, and performer, will become the new director for the 2018-19 session. Guest teaching artists this year include MRT alums-playwright, director, and actor Vichet Chum (KNYUM) and fight choreographer Angie Jepson (The Villains' Supper Club)-as well as Los Angeles-based acting teacher Richard Liccardo.

Artists from Suburbia, a leader in new and experimental community-based theatre on Boston's south shore, today announced their farewell production, 'An Evening of Devised Theatre,' on May 18, 2018, 8 p.m. at the East Bridgewater Public Library. The production incorporates the talents of established theatre professionals in the Boston area with community members on the south shore to create original theatre pieces during a two-day rehearsal process. The theatre initiative will close after this production due to new career opportunities for its co-founders and current operators - Andrew Child and Gavin Damore - in the Boston and the Chicago areas.

The board of MassDevelopment, the Mass Cultural Council's partner in the administration of the Massachusetts Cultural Facilities Fund (CFF), has awarded Chester Theatre Company (CTC) one of 63 capital grants given statewide by the CFF, a state program that fosters the growth of the creative economy by supporting building projects in the nonprofit arts, humanities, and sciences. In a press release issued by the Mass Cultural Council, MassDevelopment President and CEO Lauren Liss stated, 'The Cultural Facilities Fund supports crucial capital projects at institutions that serve as the backbone of the Massachusetts creative economy.'

MRT To Receive $55,000 In Two Grants

Merrimack Repertory Theatre (MRT) is proud to announce that it has received two major grants this month, totaling $55,000. The National Endowment for the Arts has awarded MRT an Art Works grant of $20,000 for the development of a new play, Little Women, Retold. And the board of MassDevelopment, the Mass Cultural Council's partner in the administration of the Massachusetts Cultural Facilities Fund (CFF), has approved a Capital grant to MRT in the amount of $35,000 for sound and lighting upgrades.
