ArtWeek Boston, a celebration of the arts in Boston, kicks-off its first season September 27 - October 6. The new initiative, presented by Highland Street Foundation and produced by Citi Performing Arts Center, showcases arts and cultural organizations collaborating with local businesses to create unique experiences designed to engage and involve audience members.

Loosely based on Restaurant Week, ArtWeek is a collection of curated events/experiences that highlight the quality and diversity of arts, culture, and entertainment in Boston. Each ArtWeek event links with local partners to enhance the participant experience, drive neighborhood economic impact, and build awareness about the area's creative economy. ArtWeek is designed to rapidly become a new Boston tradition as well as a model for statewide and national expansion.

During the inaugural Fall ArtWeek, audiences can experience "The Magic of Mozart," a free family day with Boston Lyric Opera, Zoo New England and Handel & Haydn Society at the Boston Public Library; pop-up theatre performances by Fiddlehead Theatre at Restaurant Laura in Dorchester; or the "Play Me, I'm Yours" festival, a free, week-long interactive piano extravaganza happening throughout Boston's neighborhoods hosted by the Celebrity Series of Boston. These creative experiences and more will span disciplines and represent a broad range of arts organizations with many events free to the public.

In announcing the full schedule, Joe Spaulding, CEO and President of Citi Performing Arts Center, said, "We live in an immensely diverse, creative community! The dozens of collaborations between the creative community and area businesses are unique, exciting, and varied; they will involve and introduce the public to new companies, artists, and neighborhoods."

In May 2013, ArtPlace America awarded a $151,368 grant to Citi Performing Arts Center in support of ArtWeek. It was chosen from over 1,200 applications nationwide as an exceptional example of creative placemaking.

ArtWeek is presented by Highland Street Foundation, produced by Citi Performing Arts Center, and supported by ArtPlace America. ArtWeek is also proud to collaborate with major media partners including WCVB-TV and MeTV, the Metro, and Greater Media (including radio stations Magic 106.7, Country 102.5, HOT 96.9. 92.9 WBOS, and WROR 105.7). Other supporters include the Greater Boston Convention and Visitors Bureau, Massachusetts Office of Travel and Tourism, and W Boston. All ArtWeek partners are passionately committed to enlivening and enriching creative communities for both residents and visitors in the City of Boston, and in continuing to build Boston's reputation as an exciting place to be.

ArtWeek Boston is September 27-October 6, 2013 and April 25-May 4, 2014. For a full schedule and more information, visit www.artweekboston.org
