Quirky, energetic, funny crime drama - chock full of Bway faces! Most recently Micaela Diamond, as a straight laced, humorless police detective. Dont know what her status is on the show but she's appeared in the last few episodes.

The show itself is pretty silly, but I watch for Carrie Preston, who's an absolute joy on it.

Micaela played Detective Edwards. She’s not a series regular - she only appeared in 2 episodes out of the 10 episodes in the current Season 1.

Just watched episode 4 and Christine Ebersole singing "Another Winter in a Summer Town" is part of the soundtrack. They really did it for the gays.

I've seen it compared to Columbo, so obviously that means I'm going to have to check it out at some point, but I'm really bad at keeping track of shows on streamers.

The showrunner is Jonathan Tolins, who wrote BUYER & CELLAR, did a book polish for the last ON THE TOWN revival, and has written for the Tonys, Oscars, Schmigadoon, Good Fight, and some Live! musicals. (Some of those alongside his husband, Robert Cary.)

If you liked Columbo, I hope you have checked out Poker Face with Natasha Lyonne.  I have literally broken out in hives waiting for season two.

It's technically a broadcast show, not a streaming show, since it first airs on CBS Thursday nights, though the episodes are added to Paramount Plus, the CBS website, and Pluto TV by the next morning.

I keep seeing ads during Amazing Race and I wish I'd been watching from the beginning. Is it episodic enough for me to just jump into a random episode? Or should I wait to get Paramount+ and watch from the beginning? I've never seen The Good Wife/Fight.

No need to wait, it is episodic.

It's mostly episodic, there is a lot of exposition in the first episode, however.  You can probably find it in reviews on the show, however.

I’m obsessed, lol. Great characters, some fun NYC views, love the Broadway actor cameos, and can we talk about those tote bags??!!! Just fun TV and a great way to pass the time until my next NYC visit!

I couldn't get through the first episode of this one. It's incredibly tedious and reminded me why I steer clear of broadcast networks these days.

If I want a modern day Colulmbo, then I'll bring up Poker Face. That's a brilliantly performed, directed, shot episodic crime story. Elsbeth is silly to the point of absurdism. Really want to get into this for the Broadway guest stars but I don't think it's for me.

I find the program to be redundant. Each episode is storyboarded in the same way. We witness the murder. Elsbeth realizes out who did it very quickly and then spends the rest of the program trying to prove it. I prefer the who done it format where there are several suspects and things unfold as the hour progresses. I think the backstory of her character needs to be expanded and they need to bring in her son and other family members. They also could do 2 or 3 episode arcs focusing on the same murder. Right now it is not a program I cannot wait to watch. It seems to hinge on guest stars.

So Help Me Todd was much better and got cancelled despite landing in the top 20 repeatedly. Strong ensemble work with an appealing cast.
