Laura Osnes and the Tony Feb 25

Asking if a performer will win an award... someday... is a bit absurd. I mean people probably assumed Julie Andrews would undoubtedly be a Tony Award winner this late in her career and we know how that has turned out... I'm not saying I'm not guilty of it myself. I always assumed Jan Maxwell would ?? Even after she announced she was quitting stage work I was kinda like "Oh some amazing role will bring her back..."
I will say this. Laura Osnes suffers from the Kelli O'Hara syndrome. Tony
Gypsy I'm sure I'll hear carping that the show is done to death but it's the Lear of musical theatre as far as I'm concerned and I'm interested in seeing all the any decent director or actress take a crack at it. Imagine a regional production with Donna Murphy or Victoria Clark or someone who's never going to get the chance to take the role to Broadway. Could be thrilling. Could be lousy. But I'd be interested to see what he'd do w
Follies is the movie musical I most want to see made but it's also the show I least want to see desecrated in an attempt to pull in audiences that were never going to show up to a cinema for it in the first place. Darren Aronofsky, David Fincher, or Alejandro González Iñárritu would be interesting choices. Aronofsky in particular intrigues me. Think of the visuals he captured in Black Swan but also his unflinching yet reverential take on midlife cr
Everyday Rapture Reunion - Sherie Rene Scott as Winne. Betsy Wolf as Sarah. Lindsey Mendez as Mary.
I'll also except a Lupone/Benanti combo with a random Mary. Keala Settle perhaps? It really doesn't matter those two have the kind of chemistry that you could cast them opposite a mop and it would still work
Mister Matt said: "That's okay. I hate Follies, which is certainly considered more unforgivable around these here parts.
"
I was about to cut the tension by suggesting we forget Oklahoma and get Sher focused on a production of Follies at LCT but now I'm afraid that might just be lighting a stick of dynamite...
Just to piggyback on everyone else's Follies comments- I've always said the perfect revival would be helmed by Bartlett Sher at the Lincoln Center with Kelli and Laura Benanti. Though the Sutton chatter does have me thinking... Aaron Lazar for Ben. Norbert Leo Butz as Buddy. And then sacrifice whatever virgin you have to to get Patti Lupone on board as Hattie. Maybe Stephanie J Block for Carlotta? Ooh or Carmen Cusack!
For the past few days I haven't been able to scroll through more than a few replies in a thread without the app crashing. I also couldn't post until I finally got on my computer (I try to stay off of Broadway World on my computer or I would NEVER be productive!) Anybody else experiencing issues?

Not necessarily. Certain directors/performers can make you look at a piece in a way you never have before. I found Twelfth Night a bit trite

I really think putting it into the Imperial was an act of stupid hubris.
That has been my thought since the production was announced. I'm not terribly famili
I know there still has yet to be any official word on this but is there any rumors swirling? It seems like they'd want to be getting things underway since they only have Audra for a little more than a month. Like others have already stated it seems like a prime opportunity with a hit show, big names, and a venerated score in need of an updated recording.
I was wondering if anyone had any insight into the production teams process of fashioning the score as I know it isn't
Daniel Radcliffe deserved at least a nomination if not the win for How to Succeed though the competition was stacked with some impressive performances that year.
And Aaron Tveit most certainly deserved a trophy for Next to Normal.
As for this season, there were some snubs (Gavin Creel, Jennifer Hudson, Ben Whishaw, Saoirse Ronan, Queen Audra) but while all were incredible performances deserving of recognition, I'm not sure if I'd go as far as handing them
Not sure if I'd call all of them "pop stars" but I'd love to hear what each of them would come up with if they tried their hand at composing a work for the theatre.
This could just be for the Late Late Show, but I'm gonna guess it's for the Tonys
"
I wonder if this is for the Tonys if it will wind up being a bit that goes further than Lin and we'll see other nominees doing carpool karaoke. I'd love Laura
Follies - iIt's been said in this thread, I've said it myself in other threads, but it bears repeating. In 5-10 years hand the reigns over to Sher and lets see what this master can do with a contemporary classic. Cast Kelli O'Hara, Laura Benanti, Tony Yazbeck, & Steven Pasquale. Get Laura to talk Patti into stepping into Hattie's o
My hope is these live productions will encourage people to get out and go to the theater and a straight play seems like an obvious next step since they need a hand attracting audiences more so than musicals.
A Fee Good Men is a solid choice for a first try for the reasons already stated but I think something like Arsenic and Old Lace with some combination of Betty White, Cloris Leachman, Carol Burnett, or Georgia Engle as the Brewster sisters would draw a crowd. I see the fi

Wolfe and Savion Glover talked about the show, and Billy Porter, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Brandon Victor Dixon, Joshua Henry, and Adrienne Warren performed, along with a bunch of the dance ensemble. All three of the performances were incredible, especially a new number that is staged as a tap battle
