Wicked movie cast

I am starting to get really worried the movie is going to be bad because of the casting. Stephen Schwartz said recently they are highly considering Ariana Grande as Elphaba and Kristen Chenoweth has been vocal over and over about Dove Cameran (I dont hate her as Glinda I think shed be okay but dont love it) and Ariana for the movie. I think Ariana as elphaba is just the stupidest thing ever said. She sings in a weird way and cant act especially not for elphaba. No shade I like Ariana and shes fine but not for this. Wicked is my favorite show Ive seen it many times and I want the movie to be great and I dont think it will if they cast big names for the sake of big names.

We had a close call with Grande almost playing Alyssa Greene in Ryan Murphy’s The Prom movie. However, if Grande had to withdraw from The Prom to keep her touring schedule consistent, would she have the time to film the Wicked movie?

I expect Stephen Daldry to be the one calling the shots and I trust he’ll make a good decision.

Don’t worry, at the rate they’re going, Grande might be age appropriate for Morrible.

What's the point of 'worrying' about a movie that isn't even cast yet? Actually, what's the point of worrying about a movie... at all? If it's good, then you enjoy it, if it's not good, you don't enjoy it and pretend it didn't exist. Leave the worrying to those who have something at stake.

I agree with Sparks on not worrying about it but for a very different reason. This feels like one of those adaptions that keeps getting picked up, but never getting it's feet off the ground. The director has been apart of this project since 2012, 7 years, and they haven't even cast their leads? Plus we already had a release date for this back in 2016 of this December, so it even coming out 2 year later I highly doubt. Now I could be wrong and the casting gets official announced today, but honestly I am not holding my breath to see this end up in movie theaters.

As long as Lea Michele and Ariana Grande aren't in the movie, I don't mind waiting. I'd rather wait and have a perfect cast than see them ruin it.

Unfortunately, Elphaba could be as good as Ariana's. Stephen Schwartz just said they're carefully watching her.

Ugh I know! I also don’t love that James will be playing Barry. And I think it’s a little odd Andrew is plying the character he is.

I love Wicked and I’m excited for the movie so it’s not that deep. But yeah I’m worried but not so worried it’s keeping me up at night. I would just love for my favorite show to be done right! Haven’t you ever had something you loved and wanted it to be done well?
