MOULIN ROUGE SRO UPDATES |
For matinees it sounds like they sell tickets when the box office first open (and if they're sold out), what exactly is the current situation with SRO to evening shows? Is it also first thing in the morning? Or just when they sell out? Or another designated time later in the day? Thanks!!

When I went, they started the evening SRO line after all 9 of the matinee spots were taken. They would sell them either at 2:30pm or after there were enough people in line to fill 9 spots.

Some shows do sell SRO even if they aren’t sold out (Circle in the Square has historically done it for many of their tenants). So it wouldn’t totally surprise me. However, it’s also possible that they WERE sold out when they sold SRO, then more tickets popped up throughout the day. And the latter seems a bit more likely given this show’s ticket sales.
Has anyone tried SRO for today (11/08)? I was thinking of going during lunch, but it seems to be random when they are available!

Just to add balance.. I was personally not impressed. Didn't help that Danny was out for the show that I saw but I just found all the modern pop songs super distracting. But that's me. Sound was mixed at rock concert levels... wayyyy too amplified for Broadway. But I know they are trying to do something different.
Set design is amazing, and of course Aaron and Karen are both amazing.

''I just found all the modern pop songs super distracting.''
Just out of curiosity, had you ever seen the 2001 movie of ''Moulin Rouge''? The whole conceit of it (and the stage version) is that it's an old-fashioned love story done with modern pop songs. Were you expecting an original period score? Anyway, I bet the modern pop songs are a major reason for its success, and the updated playlist, which now includes Lady Gaga, Adele, Rihanna, etc., has actually introduced a new generation to ''Moulin Rouge!''
Arrived at box office at 2ish. They’d not started selling SRO yet. 4 people in line each wanting 2 each.
7 spots available. They sold then at 2.30ish. As there was only 7, guy number 4 in the queue passed on the single and I grabbed it.
Even though 2 were supposedly taken by the company, nobody ended up standing in them.

I haven’t actively disliked a show like I did while watching Moulin Rouge in a long time. It’s inane, exhausting, and besides stellar design, a 1 dimensional Vegas show.
Why this theme park show has gotten a pass from the BroadwayWorld Elite is BEYOND me. To each their own, I guess. I can’t imagine waiting in line to then stand for this, though. It’s just not worth it. At all.
@VotePeron, what pass has this gotten exactly??? You and the rest of the elite have been dumping on this for months.

Every show on here has had its supporters and detractors, and I don't see how Moulin Rouge! has been any different. I, personally, loved the show, but I certainly understand the some of the criticisms.

Gee I wish you would have posted this BEFORE I bought my tickets to see if for a 3rd time! If I'd have known how bad it was, I guess I wouldn't have stupidly loved every minute of it. Tomorrow I'll be giving extra special thanks for you and the rest of the "Tastemasters" of BWW who wisely tell us commoners which shows not to waste our time on!
How does waiting for SRO at Moulin Rouge work? Do you have to stand out in the cold for over five hours or something like that? Or do they let you into the theatre to wait? Also, has anyone ever gone to wait for SRO and been refused a ticket? I really want to do this at some point but not if I'm not guaranteed a SRO ticket; I'd be traveling a distance to do it. Thanks for reading; I'm clueless about this stuff lol.

You wait outside and assuming they haven't already sold all SRO tickets before you arrive, or there are too many pre-10AM line people, you are guaranteed SRO I believe.
