We get it, you didn’t like the show. But unless you were being courted as a big producer, dislike of the production has no bearing over whether or not it will transfer.

For what it’s worth, the producers of Alice By Heart and Superhero we’re certain on transferring to Broadway ASAP until the (deservedly so) horrid reviews came out. Often, people attached with the shows are too close to see their flaws until critics and the public point them out.

That's not entirely true.  If it's panned by the critics, that is likely to have a bearing on whether it transfers.  And zachvandyke's comment may just be reflecting the judgment that the critical response to the production will be similar to his/hers.

Like I said previously, I really wanted to like this but I can’t imagine the critics will be kind. And I’m still very curious if any major changes have been made. I can’t imagine any changes that would be dramatic enough to make someone care about the characters, but who knows?! I might be completely wrong. I think Joshua Henry deserves a star vehicle that rises to his talent.

Noticed the playbills are now in color... could this be because of a commercial producer picking it up? MCC usually does black and white.

I saw the matinee today, and I actually did enjoy it. And I have been woefully disappointed by 90% of the musicals I've seen in the past few years. It's flawed, yes, but for the most part I really liked it.

I liked the music a lot. Not much more to be said there - I thought it was well-written and filled with passion that worked well as a vehicle for this story.

I am one of the people who thought Hamilton was wildly over-choreographed, and yet I actually liked the use of choreography here. I liked having the "ballet" versions of the characters.

I saw the show with my girlfriend, and her immediate reaction after the show was over was that the story was just so unrealistic. That in the real justice so system, they could have done so much more to solve the situation. I don't disagree, but I was looking at the show as much more of an allegory. I viewed the Man in Black as less of a character that needed developing, and more of an ominous figure symbolizing the un-checked evil in the world that makes the innocent suffer. And I actually did find myself invested in the character of Duran. I liked the way they established his hopes and dreams, and his instant connection to Mariana. I was really rooting for him, and sympathizing with him, and I was really heartbroken when everything unfolded.

There were definitely moments that I thought could have been clearer in the storytelling, but for the most part I think the book held together reasonably well.

Saw the matinee yesterday and have to join the choir around how underdeveloped this piece was. First off it should be marketed as Joshua Henry sings The Wrong Man. He is putting on a star turn working very hard to glue this set of pop tunes together. Liza Minnelli in The Act comes to mind. Sadly The Act had more substance and that’s not saying much. The music is really very good but all the songs fall into a pop music format where the lyrics are not theatrical.  Each song says what little it wants to say quickly and then your left with 80% of the song repeating itself thru what are very nice arrangements and superfluous choreography by the very handsome ensemble. What little lyrics there are they are mostly made up exposition and narrative. Show me don’t tell me. And that’s where poor Joshua has to pick up the slack with facial and body expressions. It’s a masterclass in expression.

I will probably love the recording, something to listen to while driving in the car or while house cleaning g on a Saturday morning. The hooks, the choral work, all easy listening even possible chart toppers. But for theater? So we begin with not much happening in the lyrics and not much more happening on stage.  The production is slim, itsHamilton lite and that was a big disappointment for me because it was the director and musical director who drew me to the show. They need to broaden their stage vocabulary. If this were to move to Bway - which I don’t see any need for - it would physically move very easily. A Strange Loop is so much more deserving a move. A 90 minute show needs to be 90 minutes of brilliance - this is a 20 minute show dragged out to 90 minutes but it’s 90 minutes in good company if in the end unsatisfying.

I agree with Up in One's well-expressed thoughts, although I liked the choreography more.

To me the main problem is that if you're going to have a show that's sung-through, those lyrics have to work extra hard to tell the story. In Hamilton, for instance, which is almost sung-through, you don't have lots of lyrics repeating, except in a refrain once in a while. I imagine a sung-through show is very hard to pull off.

The producers should have hired a talented book writer to give us a real story.

I loved Joshua Henry and felt his pain. He was just magnificent. I could listen to him all day. I also thought Ryan Vasquez and Ciara Renee did an excellent job.

In its present form, I don't see it as Broadway bound. I can't picture hordes of tourists shelling out for such a depressing and hopeless story.

I also loved Joshua Henry.  He gave a wonderful performance and I would sit through it again just to see him sing, dance, walk, and act with so much emotion.

I only have one part of a song going through my head since seeing the show on 9/21...
'The wrong man, the wrong man..."  I can't remember what the rest of the song is about, but I can hear Joshua Henry singing it in my head and it sounds great.  I agree that most of the lyrics were very repetitive.

I filled out the email survey that I received after I saw the show.  Hopefully, they will make some changes and maybe there will still be a future for this.

Saw this tonight. Pretty much all of my thoughts have been voiced by other posters. This is a dud but Joshua Henry is singing the hell out of it.

I also saw this last night, and gosh. I thought it was an incredibly strong piece, and I loved every second of it. That being said, I can't imagine this working in any Broadway house. I will say that I felt like Joshua Henry carried way too much of the story, and I completely agree with others, it needs more narrative. However, I don't think this takes away from the impact at all. The choreography is some of the best I've seen. Thoroughly enjoyed the show. The entire cast absolutely kills it.

I don’t know what show y’all saw, but this was INCREDIBLE! The more i think about it, the more I’m mind blown. All the principles sung their faces off and the staging was a WOW for me.

Also, that set. Simple but immersive. The lights alone moved me. lol

And a girl next to me was in tears. My eyes watered a bit too when that spotlight swirled at the end.

Theater snobs are not gonna love this show, but it’s undeniably something special. And it’s for new, younger audiences to be honest. Great vehicle to welcome them in.

And if this doesn’t get a cast recording, that would be an awful misstep. Unlike most musicals, these songs can work on pop radio and the big streaming charts, helping with awareness of the show. And if THAT happens and one of the song top billboard (VERY possible. Hello, “Stay Positive”), we might witness something close to the next Hamilton...

Maybe the first few previews were bad, but they are on FIRE now. Bravo to all involved!

The show has problems.  But it's worth seeing.

Joshua Henry is giving the performance of his life!  So many big songs.  So many big notes.  He's not missing a thing.  Impressive to say the least.

I saw this yesterday afternoon and enjoyed it more than I was expecting, especially after the initially tepid word of mouth on here. All three principles (Joshua Henry, Ciara Renee, and Ryan Vasquez) are quite charismatic and in excellent voice, with Henry delivering a particularly powerhouse performance. I enjoyed much of the music, and am hoping there'll be a cast recording to preserve these vocals and Alex Lacamoire's arrangments. There were aspects of writing and production that I didn't love, but, all in all, I enjoyed my 90 minutes and am glad that I got to catch this.

How appropriate is the show for a teenager?

I don’t remember there being any inappropriate material for a teenager. You can also listen to the concept album as the show is nothing more than Joshua Henry singing those songs while others dance around him.

Hunter Foster’s tweet -

Overblown concept, “style” and unmotivated choreography does not make a musical.

Story and character are more important. The rest is all BS.

Saw this last night and to quote my companion, "wow."

This easily became one of my favorite shows of the year.

I can't add any more superlatives to Joshua Henry who gets better ever time I see him. The rest of the cast was very strong. Loved the music and I liked the choreography a lot, but I can see how others would be put-off by it.

I can't see this moving to Broadway. The only theater it might work in, is Circle in the Square, but it's a very intimate show and unlikely to draw a sustained audience.

I like that the book isn't punched up, so everything is in your face. If you prefer that, this may not be for you. You're going to have to do some of the work as an audience.

Audience reaction seemed very positive. People were on their feet before Joshua Henry even came out, so I took that as a good sign.

I doubt they will do a recording of this, which is a shame.

This may not be everybody's cup of tea, but we loved every second of it.

The tweet has been deleted, but if this is what Foster said, I agree with him both in general and also in regards to The Wrong Man.
