So I just saw KMK and I am totally in love with this production. I recall that when it opened people were mixed about it on this board I seem to recall comments about the lack of chemistry.. I’m wondering if anyone that saw it then and has seen it recently could comment on any growth they have seen in the performances . Both Leads as well as the supporting cast were on fire this last Wednesday. BTW.. saw Oklahoma as well. I was bored . But I should have known better since the material has never appealed to me. But I was lured in by the reviews.

Agree with you.  I've been reading these boards for years but have never really felt compelled to join.  I saw KMK this past Wednesday as well and loved it (I don't really love the show that much but I loved this production). I've never been a KO fan per se, but I really enjoyed her in this. Her voice was glorious and she was very funny!  But more than that I just thought the whole production was entertaining. And then dancing - damn! I'd read earlier mixed reviews on the board so I wasn't sure if I'd like it but I really did think it was great.  I mean, I don't need to see it again but I would heartily recommend it to anyone looking to have a good time at the theatre.  I haven't seen Oklahoma yet becuase I have never really liked that show either.   It kind of fits into the same category as KMK, to me anyway. However, I do plan to try to see it soon based on the reviews,  So who knows - maybe I'll  love it too.

I love this production too, I think of it often.  I am still hoping for a cast recording.

I saw this in March after it opened and enjoyed it so much I'm taking my mom to see it tomorrow. So I'm interested to see if the timing and comedy has improved since then.

KMK is a musical comedy. OKLAHOMA! is a musical play.

Not even remotely "the same category". **SPOILER ALERT (though everyone should know OK! by now)** When a principal character is violently killed in OKLAHOMA!, you will see just how far it is from KMK.

This is in no way a criticism of either show, nor am I suggesting you and Dame are wrong to love KMK. Good musical comedy ain't easy!

We saw KMK tonight and just loved it. The understudy for second man used a script during his number... does this happen often?

But more than that I just thought the whole production was entertaining. And then dancing - damn!

Although Kelli and Will are couple no. 1, the major stars, they are somewhat in awe of the dancing abilities of couple no. 2, Stephanie and especially Corbin.

Although there is nothing but warmth and respect among them all, Kelli and Will cannot help but notice that the biggest ovations in the show occur when they are not on stage.

Kelli tells everyone "to see the show for the dancing."

I saw this last weekend and I really enjoyed it.  I saw the 1999 revival and absolutely loved that production, so I went into the show with some trepidation.  Kelli actually surprised me at how funny she was. I loved her vocals in the Act 1 closing number. I thought Will Chase was fine, but he wasn't at the same level as Kelli.

I was surprised to see that Tom McGowen has replaced original 2nd man (Lance Coadie Williams), and that Amanda LaMotte replaced Haley Fish in the ensemble.  I would think in a limited run, that people wouldn't leave the production.

I hope I can see it once again before it closes.

Haley will be returning in June after breaking her foot, but I don’t know what’s going on with the 2nd Man. Replacements in a limited run not due to injury/sickness/etc. are rare to see.

June 28th. But it looks like the digital/streaming date may be sooner.

Per IBDB (and stagedoor photos) --- Tom McGowan has quietly replaced Lance Coadie Williams as the Second Man in KISS ME, KATE "circa May 2019." Anyone seen him?

I thought the gangsters were dreadful when I saw the show right before opening, so hopefully this is a positive change...McGowan's usually a very funny actor.

I didn't see Lance Cody Williams but Tom McGowan was fine.  I did see the benefit concert a few years ago and Richard Kind who joined John Pankow was marvelous!

I saw it again today and its a completely different show than the one I saw in early previews.

Its perfect. Its become exactly the show its supposed to be, and every element of it just sparkles.

Im sorry I waited so long between visits. I hope I get to squeeze in one more.

Absolutely loved it. All of it. Especially Kelli

If it does extend, it will be without Kelli as she's set to be in Tokyo for the King and I run which starts July 11th.

I completely agree- I also very much liked it when I saw it in previews, but LOVED it when I saw it again last week!  Everything about the production has come together perfectly, and as a special bonus I got understudy Preston Truman Boyd on as Fred/Petruchio, and he was an absolute revelation in the role- possibly the best I’ve seen, including Stokes.
