I hope to goodness the next revival of "Sweet Charity" we get isn't with Laura Bell. I think she'll be terrific in the role and I'm hoping to see her but in terms of a revival on a grand scale, I don't want her. I'd rather Sutton Foster reprise her role as Charity, or someone to give Annaleigh Ashford a shot at the role. Nonetheless, Bundy will be spectacular! Really hoping my plans will come together so I can see it!!
I'd be thrilled with a full scale Cusack production of "Victor/Victoria" though.

I know some people are huge fans of Bundy, but I just don't get it. LEGALLY BLONDE with Bundy was a middle-of-the-road, inoffensive if slightly obnoxious show with promise. LEGALLY BLONDE with Sheridan Smith (based on the cast recording and clips online) was a revelation--not that it was all of the sudden a masterpiece, but it became the bubble gum fun show it was meant to be, with some genuinely hilarious moments and an Elle Woods that managed to make you root for her *and* not miss Reese Witherspoon.
My main issue with Bundy's casting here is that I have yet to see her being sincere on stage, and for SWEET CHARITY to work we need to be on board with Charity's earnest optimism.
CindersGolightly, Ashford was born to play this role, and I hope we get to see her do it whether in New York or elsewhere. Of course, I wish the transfer rumors surrounding the Foster-led production had been true.

I'd travel anywhere to see her do it. Obviously, my biggest dream would be for her to do it on Broadway, and for her to win her second Tony for it. (And to have a cast recording with her in the role. My gosh, wouldn't that be astonishing?) But as long as I get to leave this world knowing I've seen Annaleigh Ashford play Charity Hope Valentine, none of that other stuff matters as much.
(But please, somebody revive it for her on Broadway.)

She doesn't need New York. Her fruitful 30-year career has mostly occurred outside of New York, and she's living proof that Broadway isn't everything.

What is going on with Reprise 2.0? First Victor/Victoria was cancelled, now Grand Hotel is "postponed." Am I to assume the venture wasn't too successful? It's a shame since Sweet Charity was fantastic. Will there be a Reprise 3.0?
I also agree that Sweet Charity with Laura Bell Bundy was wonderful. When I attended, they were pushing really hard for donations. It felt like - "You better all donate, or you won't get to see any more shows," I guess it wasn't just a sales tactic. I wonder if they don't really have the backing from donors they need to move forward. It's too bad.
