Hey all, I was wondering how long Leigh will be back as Velma. I promised my girlfriend she can finally see a Velma who isn’t Amra

Upon first reading the title of this thread, I thought Leigh Silverman (the director) was going into Chicago as Velma and I was equal parts horrified/confused lol.
Leigh Zimmerman was fantastic and made some magic on the stage. I had a lovely time chatting with her at the stage door and backstage. She IS a star in the minds of many!!
"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)

I never found Leigh to be sloppy, she’s actually one of my favorite Velmas.
And in my humble opinion I’d take anyone over Amra’s bored, mechanical performance. Her stay as Velma this go round has been nearly 7 years, she needs to move on.

He Sheila Bryant in the West End revival of A Chorus Line was stellar. I can't imagine anything less for her Velma in Chicago.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
That’s how Brenda Braxton got too. Lazy. You’re best bet is to see the show the rare times Amra is out and Donna Marie is on as Velma.
Re Leigh. She’s a very nice and stunning lady. I’ve seen her as Kitty and Velma. I don’t care for her Velma. I liked her Velma in London back when she first started - and was blonde. When she came back something changed a bit and I don’t care for it. I hated the fan day show. Jazz was a mess imo
Personally I think some of the best Velma’s were (in no specific order) Ruthie, Ute, Jasmine, Bebe, Donna Marie
You may want to hurry. Charlotte leaves on Dec. 3, while Leigh Zimmerman departs on Dec. 10th.
