I was just thinking when Alan Tudyk was going to come back to Broadway. I'm actually shaking from excitement right now lol And Iyeah, sign me up from Amy and Lauren.
Cast looks great (other than Schumer). Saw this in Hartford and Schumer is completely wrong for the role (Arden Myrin who played it there would have been perfect and has the MadTV history with Key). It's very much a surreal version of God of Carnage. Looking forward to seeing it!
Her website lists her concert dates. The bulk of them are in December.
"Oh look at the time, three more intelligent plays just closed and THE ADDAMS FAMILY made another million dollars" -Jackie Hoffman, Broadway.com Audience Awards
^Thank you! Don't know if I should squeeze another day in NYC on the week I'm seeing DEH, Hamilton, and OOTI or the weekend in January when I'm seeing Spongebob, Anastasia, and Kinky Boots.

What's the tone like? I'm taking my mom to see Hello Dolly in December and we have room for another show and I would love to see this. My mom is pretty laid back, but she is also a pretty conservative Christian lady.
Oy, I guess I'm going to have to see this now. When it was just Schumer and Benanti I was willing to skip it (don't like Schumer, and even though I like Benanti, I've seen her plenty of times). But with Key and Tudyk I don't think I can let this pass.
Schubox - I would probably suggest not taking someone who is a conservative Christian to see it. There is a good deal of sex talk and a plot line about having a threesome / foursome from what I remember.
The play is definitely not for everyone. It's very funny but it's also very Steve Martin absurdist and jumps around in time without much explanation of where / when certain events in the play take place. Not sure if he has done re-writes to make some of that clearer (hopefully). I must say though, I enjoyed it quite a bit and am looking forward to seeing it again, but it left some of those around me confused.

Okay thanks. I really don't feel like sitting next to my mom and being super uncomfortable.
I assume that the majority of Benanti's concerts, especially the ones occurring during preview period (she has one currently scheduled for the third night of previews), will be rescheduled or cancelled. This kind of thing happens more frequently than one might realize.
"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe."

I like her too. I think she'll surprise people.

I'm fine with Schumer (don't hate her but also don't love her) and think she has good comedic timing but this role is a sweet, sexually naive young woman which Schumer does not scream. I hope she proves me wrong.
Bought my ticket early (going November 27th). Knowing the names involved (specifically Schumer), this could blow up before we know it.
I could imagine that they might have some sort of small 2-3 week extension built in (since it closes toward the end of January and anyone looking to take the theatre before the end of Tony season could turn it around in late Feb/early March. However, this could also just turn out to be a huge cash grab (Orchestra is $159.00 already) and the limited demand could allow them to jack up the price and make a killing around the holidays, then quit shortly after.
