Overrated and hype are just clues that people went to something to see what the fuss was about, and found no fuss. Typically has nothing to do with something was good or bad, since we're just comparing someone's advance notion versus their lived experience.
Joey, I do agree the Stephen Sondheim thread was a bit much, but this is a bit much too
In our millions, in our billions, we are most powerful when we stand together. TW4C unwaveringly joins the worldwide masses, for we know our liberation is inseparably bound.

I wasn't even going to look at the Sondheim thread until I saw this one. I'm not sure if "overrated" threads are overrated, but I do know that "iconic" is way overused - but that's a whole other thread.
The definition of 'overrated' is: to rate or appraise too highly; overestimate.
So, if you are asking whether claiming that something is overrated is an action that is, in and of itself, an action that is appraised to highly or overestimated well...I just have NO idea what you are asking.
I have completely ignored that obvious troll-bait thread, posted by one of the most mind-numbingly foolish posters on the site. It was just waiting for the w*nkers to pile on with their tired, ersatz gripes.
The only response I could have made would be: "But is Michael Phelps really a good swimmer?"
