OOTI or Carousel?  May 6 2018, 11:20:51 AM
Do not see CAROUSEL...the production is utterly abysmal. Definitely go for OOTI, as I think it will run through the dates your trip is planned for.

What is next at the Shubert?  Apr 20 2018, 12:52:48 AM

I'm a bit puzzled with Hello, Dolly!'s closing announcement...very surprised. I'm guessing something big must be coming into the Shubert.

Bette Midler to return to the Tony Award-winning revival of 'Hello, Dolly!' on July 17 for a six-week run  Apr 20 2018, 12:48:05 AM

Maybe add in the subject line that IT'S CLOSING! Final performance Aug. 25. Wow. Very sad to see this transcendent production close but I will be back to see Bette again.

Interesting choices.

New Round of 2018 Tony Eligibility Rulings  Apr 12 2018, 05:21:00 PM

So 1984 is now eligible...I wonder what had happened.

Matt Windman is a negative -- compares it to his disappointing experience with Mean Girls.

Hollywood Reporter is mixed, with a bit of a negative edge. He highlights the positives, but notes that "adding singing and dancing to a familiar property does

Yeah, I’d say Times is mixed, pointing out the positives. She loves cast, choreography, and book, but says the score is “likeable — never revelatory.”

Not that bad a review...the notices have certainly been different from the feedback on this board. The subjectivity of theatre is truly interesting.

While I enjoyed The Honeymooners, I feel The Sting is far more commercially viable.

Yes, plenty of work is needed for The Sting, but I think it has great potential. It's opening tonight, so I'm curious to see how the critics take it (though reviews will come out sporadically because of Mean Girls' opening). I was hearing rumors of a November opening in New York...however, I think it would be behoove the creat

I believe the running time was just about 2 hours and 50 minutes. Maybe 2 hours and 45 minutes. Either way, it was definitely long and I agree cutting is needed, but the bones for a strong show are there.

I also saw it last night and thought it was quite fabulous. Cast is fantastic, though I agree Janet is underused. I was told significant changes will be implemented today, and just yesterday, they reordered all of Act 1 before the second preview.

Warren Carlyle’s choreography blew me away — the tap is just insane. Staging in general is beautiful and well conceived. The design has a very cinematic feel, and I think it really works. The lighting, specifically, is gorgeous
