I love the movie. This casting is interesting. I can see where there are some similarities between Olivo (Satine), Tveit (Christian), Burstein (Zidler), Mutu (the duke) and the characters as portrayed in the movie but I also see a lot of differences. I definitely see where this could be a different interpretation of the story.

That Alex Timbers was attached had me at hello and I booked tickets the second they went on sale (along with tickets thereafter for Jagged Little Pill). This cast is next level ****. I saw the news when I was out with friends who don’t follow broadway....and it was VERY difficult to hide my excitement!

Was debating between going back to Boston to see this or waiting for a Broadway run, but the casting definitely sold me. Also, there is no guarantee of Broadway, though I realize it is being mentioned. Going July 11th. & seeing Jagged Little Pill in the same trip.

There's no way she'd be investing time and energy into the Boston production if she didn't plan on continuing with it.

We will be there July 14 too! So excited for this cast. The price of the tickets doesn't bother me as much as the price of hotels in that area. Can't believe they are more than NYC! But I want to be within walking distance of the theatre so I'll deal with it.

You could book a bed in a hostel. That's what I did. Yeah you've got to share a room but it's only $50 a night and if you're only there a few days then it works imo. I don't plan on spending much time there anyway. Also Hosteling International actually has nice buildings. The one I'm staying at in Boston looks fantastic, especially for the price. And it's right across from the Emerson theatre.

I can vouch that the Hostelling International in Boston is great. I stayed there last year. It is within walking distance of most of the theaters. I say most because I don't know what else is around and know A.R.T is in Cambridge. Also a short walk from South Station. And I did see a lot of families and folks older than their 20's staying there. Maybe it's different than other hostels I've stayed in because you can buy a membership to stay at their locations globally. But, it wasn't a party atmosphere like the place I stayed at in Los Angeles, which was not their property.

That's an interesting option. I will have my 2 teens and a car with me. Right now I have the Doubletree Hilton booked. The Park & Stay rate is $285 per night. I didn't think that hostels are family friendly but I'll look into it.

Boston is an expensive city.  The production is very costly.  It is clearly selling well and in demand. The cast is very appealing and known. The theater normally charges these prices due to keeping the doors open to this huge theater.  These are my guesses why ticket prices are that high.  Anyone who works in the industry and could explain how they establish ticket prices for shows would be appreciated.

LOVED this movie- but so much of it was editing and special effects -Tveit and Olivo will nail  "Come What May"  just feeling the scenery might upstage the content!  We'll see.  Also curious of what will be the line up of songs?  Are they really going to get the rights to all the songs used in the film and what will replace them?  Would love to see this in Boston.

I’ve heard that from someone who attended a reading that Katy Perry’s “Firework” is used and also that Christian is no longer the narrator.

Have you tried Airbnb? That's what I'm doing with my friends as we also have a car :) I use Airbnb all the time.

Kathy Perry Firework?

Ewwwww, flying from Europe isn’t sounding as appealing now.

In this variation, if I were Satine, I'd be picking the Duke over Christian. Tveit is super cute, but Mutu? WOOF.

did you think the score would remain completely unchanged?

I hoped but didn’t expect it too. The film songs were curated so well. Unless firework is thrown in the middle of a medley by the stock comedy characters frankly I don’t want to hear it. It’s a dreadful song, it has no cultural or musical standing unlike every other song.

I mean, agreed but maybe they're going for a more physically impressive Duke instead of the foppish character mostly hiding behind his bodyguard? By the way, have they cast that role? Because I feel like they could get rid of it without changing too much.
