I used it this past Sunday as my mom couldn't decide on what she wanted to see. We got great seats to Miss Saigon the last time we used it and we ended up with Kinky Boots this weekend, decent seats, but I had better seats winning their lottery the two times I have previously seen the show. But, mom was happy so that's all that matters.

I also saw Bandstand (last row orch) through them so for me, they are alright.

I got Lower Mezz on the left side for the Play That Goes Wrong.  Not bad seats at all.  It really is a crapshoot.  I would recommend this for casual theatre goers  or those who have friends and relatives visiting.

Not necessarily new, but I used it twice over the summer and got orchestra seats for both Beautiful and Kinky Boots, and I had friends that got Bronx Tale--all with great views.  Now that they separate into matinee vs evening shows, you can try to "game" it by picking a date where you know a certain show will not be playing at a specific time if you want to avoid that show.

I personally think it's a pretty fun thing to do if you're okay with a lot of the shows on the list (I've seen a lot of shows already but there's quite a few of them I wouldn't mind seeing again, or saw with partial view the first time).

I just came across an article on BR (Recent 'Broadway Roulette' article) and searched for it here on the message board. Glad I found this thread with everyone's experiences shared with us. I'm thinking of using this service on my next trip to NY (in the next month or so). Any more recent experiences in the past few weeks?

Bumping this thread because I'm considering this.

How have recent experiences with this been? Curious to hear exact seats and which shows they've been sending people to. (I'm mainly asking since five shows closed this month, but I'm happy to hear about any and all experiences from 2019!)

I used it and got an orchestra seat when Bandstand was still on Broadway. It was a great experience!

I've had great experiences with Broadway Roulette! I've used them a few times and so far I've gotten orchestra seats for all but one show. Sure, I've only gotten shows that are more likely to be discounted (like Chicago, The Prom and Anastasia) but 2 out of 5 seats have been center orchestra, 2 have been side orchestra but close to the center (one was on the aisle) and only one mezzanine seat, which was row C or D of the mezzanine at the Longacre.

Realizing that Broadway Roulette won't give you tickets to the same show twice unless you request it, a friend of mine has basically gone to see every show on broadway through BR just so she can get cheaper tickets to newer shows when they come out. The seats for newer shows tend to be not-so-great because they're so in demand, but every once in a while there's a good one. Not sure if it was worth the long term investment, but a fascinating experiment.

Thanks for the feedback to everyone that answered! I'll have to give this a try, come November.

That's actually a really interesting idea! Not one that I'm in the position to do right now, but probably worth it for someone that can.

Semi annual bumping of this topic looking for any recent experiences. My friends and I just learned of this service and are thinking about taking a weekend in the near future to try it out. When I searched the board to find this topic, I saw a lot of people recently getting Mean Girl tickets. Anyone getting anything else as of late?

I wish they would allow more than 4 cross-offs for musicals, but I understand that would defeat the purpose lol. I'm just pickier than many hardcore theatergoers. I still might try this out one day...$59 for a potentially hot show is hard to beat.

Yeah even to pay the extra $10 for the two extra cross offs, I still run the risk of seeing something I have already seen. Which is my apprehension. Do we risk seeing something we've already seen for super cheap or do we just pay the extra to get tickets for something specific we know we have not seen already on TKTS or TodayTix?

Yeah, I decided a while ago it's made for casual theatergoers, and I think that determination has held up.

I don't live in New York, but I'm definitely not a casual theatre goer. I make several Broadway trips and see a ton of shows. I've used Broadway Roulette a few times when my trips have fallen on more expensive weekends (holidays, etc). Depending on the holiday, they sometimes add an extra $10, but the price is still pretty good compared to TodayTix, etc for those particular weekends.

I don't mind seeing most shows more than once, so I just take out the couple I really dislike and then remove two more depending on my mood or what I think my companion might dislike.

The anticipation is always fun, and I've never been disappointed with my spins. Since I'm usually a weekend traveler, I haven't gotten anything crazy, but if you go during the week, it seems like you're more likely to hit one of the big shows. On IG, I see several people getting Hamilton on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Yearly revival of this thread. Anyone play since Broadway reopened? What did you get?

I’ve played twice a few years ago and I believe I got Anastasia both times.

An acquaintance got Moulin Rouge recently. I think they were at the very back of the mezz though.
