As written in the following article, Radio City Music Hall is booked next year during the time when the TONY's are usually handed out. Ideas on possible locations are Madison Square Garden, Beacon Theatre, Apollo Theatre, or maybe a Broadway house itself.
I'm thinking what about Avery Fisher Hall, or Carnegie Hall? Any thoughts?
Madison Square Garden will not be an option. The arena is going to be closed as soon as the Rangers/Knicks seasons end for the next 3 summers because of the renovations taking place there.
"The Theater at Madison Square Garden would be an option though."
I agree it would be, the article didn't clarify if they were talking about the arena or the theater though even though I guess its safe to assume they were talking about the theatre.
The TONYS have been there for over a decade. This was no scheduling conflict. Radio City Music Hall management obviously knows that the Tony Awards take place there for a week in June every year. One of three things happened:
a) the League didn't want the TONYS at RCMH next year so they didn't book it. b) RCMH didn't want the TONYS there so they allowed someone else to book in June. c) a mistake occurred from either end, therefore the TONYS were forced out of RCMH if they still want the event to take place in June.
More than likely they will bring the event back to a Broadway theatre.
What this DOES mean next year is that there will definitely be a new set!
"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

Definitely not Madison Square Garden. The theater there is not the best venue, plus I thought they were closing to remodel.
I wonder what's playing at Radio City and who is going to get fired for not securing it for the Tonys.
If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.
The Javits Center has beautiful Hudson River views from the roof. And judging from the parade of producers that flooded the stage, it's big enough that everyone can invite their extended family and friends.

It is a scheduling conflict. There is a new springtime production that is going into RCMH. Neither the theater at MSG or the Arena is an option, either, because the renovations are also going to be undertaken in the corridors and public spaces that access the venues. I do graduations for a large university and every one (over 20) that was to be held at either Radio City or MSG has had to find a new venue.
The last vampire is the mother of all vampires and that is the vampire of despair. It'll wake you up at 4am to say things like:
Who do you think you are kidding?
You look like a fool!
No matter how hard you try, you'll never be good enough!
Why is it that if some dude walked up to me on the subway platform
and said these things, I'd think he was a mentally ill as-h-le,
but if the vampire inside my head says it,It's the voice of reason!

Oh Jayzus, not the Easter Rockettes. I thought they dumped that idea.

A semi-permanent Cirque du Soleil show is schedule to take over Radio City starting next year (they're doing the same thing at the Kodak Theatre in LA). Supposedly it's going to take up the theatre half of the year or something of the sort.

I'm not really seeing the conflict here. Can't they give awards with acrobats flying over their heads? It would probably boost viewership.

And I know that Disney definitely wouldn't allow it, but seeing that the New Amsterdam is the most gorgeous house on Broadway, I'd LOVE to see them there...
