Then She Fell in Brooklyn  May 6 2018, 01:32:38 AM

Really contemplating this experience as part of my theater trip this summer.  The performance I would attend does not end until 12:30 am.  Since this is in Brooklyn will it be a safe trip back to Times Square for me as my hotel is in the theater district.  Any insights and/or advice would be most welcome.

Audra in Concert  May 6 2018, 01:28:23 AM

Just saw her tonight with the KC Symphony here in Kansas City. She was beyond great.  I have seen her numerous times before but tonight was just next level brilliance.  Agree with others - go see her if she is coming to your city!

Did Courtney Reed have a cold when recording the Aladdin OBCR?  Apr 17 2018, 08:02:21 PM

This has bugged me for a while now.  CR sounds super nasal on the recording like her nose is plugged up.  Am I crazy?  Does anyone else notice this?  Or is this how she always sounds?  Needless to say I am always disappointed in the Jasmine dialogue and vocals on the recording.

Matinee into Sleep No More  Mar 25 2018, 06:31:16 PM

I saw a matinee of War Horse, evening performance of How to Succeed, and then did the late night Sleep No More on a Saturday back in 2011.  It was a long day, but it was not a problem to do all of that - and I am neither a spring chicken nor athletic.

At Sleep No More, I really got swept up into it all and did not really think too much about all the walking and stair climbing.

MY FAIR LADY (2018) Previews  Mar 14 2018, 06:03:10 PM

While I've already purchased Band's Visit, Hamilton, Frozen, Harry Potter and Carousel for my trip in August, I'm waiting to buy on this one til the end of this week.  I hope someone who attends the first preview will provide some seating advice - would it be best to sit house right or left?

I also cannot wait for this show!

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Seating/Pricing Thread  Feb 11 2018, 07:04:42 PM

Well, this ticket order process was a disaster.  On the initial Thursday ticket release, I waited through the queue, selected my date, put in the CVV code on the site, and got the message "Something went wrong.  Try again."  Which I did for four other dates, receiving this same message, and gave up.  I then checked my debit card account only to find all five of these tries DID GO THROUGH.  So I was charged about $1700 for tickets to five pairs of performance

Favorite Broadway Musical Flops?  Jul 12 2017, 06:03:14 PM

Though it was a bit of mess, CRY BABY had its highlights.  The choreography and performance of Ally Mauzey were truly memorable.

I still remember watching that show in disbelief that a big, huge theater (Marquis) could really be that empty.

Hello Again Movie Musical Filming  Jul 12 2017, 05:58:57 PM

DAME said: "So I saw this last night as part of the Outfest film festival.  It was a late 9:45 pm screening and the last film being showed that evening so it had that working against it.  Audience response  was tepid.   It was not for me.  But I wasn't bored. .  The movie picks up a little bit with the Titanic story.  But until that point I found myself trying to adjust to whatever the hell this was on the screen.  I did love Audra , Cheyen

We're not allowed to talk about Ben in Marc's shows?  Jun 27 2017, 05:17:52 PM

This thread is insane.

P & P thanked Marc Platt due to their connection through La La Land.  It's not hard to understand.

And if MP did help their careers in any other way, well that's how the business works.  Much ado about nothing . . .

Banquettes advice  Jun 25 2017, 02:11:01 AM

How are the banquette seating on the "outer" aisles - seats like BB1, BE2, etc?

Is there any interaction in these seats? possible pierogie/shaker territory?

War Paint - scheduled vacations?  Jun 25 2017, 12:48:51 AM

Can anyone direct me to where I can find information on any scheduled vacations for Ms. LuPone or Ms. Ebersole?  The official website was of no help - neither were telecharge and ticketmaster.  Is this information available?  Or do I assume both actresses will be in the duration of the summer unless they are ill?

Rude Theater Goers  Jun 20 2017, 12:51:40 AM

Just got back from a theater trip to Chicago.  At four of the shows - ALADDIN, HAMILTON, SPAMILTON, and SHAKESPEARE IN LOVE - the audiences were very attentive with no issue.

But, damn, at the tour of KING AND I, the audience was horrid - perhaps collectively the worst I have ever encountered.  Here are just a few things that had me fuming:

1.  Elderly Asian gentleman across the aisle from me during Act 2 ( there was a decent amount of empty seats and he move

Natasha Pierre and the Great Comet Of 1812 Seating  May 12 2017, 10:51:09 PM

I sat in Sec 3 in rear mezz in the very last row on the aisle with the runway thing in front of me.  There is plenty of audience interaction up there.  It really was a blast especially when I paid only $60 for the seat.  Also I would agree with the poster above about binoculars.  So glad I brought them to see the principals' up close.

Coming to NYC - Question about School of Rock discount code!  Feb 5 2017, 03:09:23 PM

I will coming to NYC next month and while I have bought tickets for the "hot" shows (COMET, DEAR EVAN, WAITRESS - Mueller's last weekend, and ANASTASIA), I am also looking to see SCHOOL OF ROCK.  It seems as though current discount codes run only through March 12 - two weeks prior to my visit.  Should I be patient and wait for a discount code extension?  Is it likely that the discounts won't extend due to spring break season?  If so, I will just pay full

Seating Advice - Broadhurst Theatre  Jan 15 2017, 11:50:36 PM

I have only been the to the Broadhurst Theatre once about 10 years ago, and had a comfortable aisle seat in the Mezz.  There are no aisle seats remaining for the date(s) I'm looking at for Anastasia, so whether I sit in orchestra or mezz I will be in the middle of a row.  I'm pretty big (both tall and wide) and was wondering about the legroom.  Any suggestions as to which section would be preferable for legroom - orchestra or mezz?

I can tell you I have had

Favorite Orchestral Parts  May 23 2016, 09:17:47 PM

I will always love the oboe playing the Bring Him Home melody as Valjean takes Marius's body to the sewers.  Perhaps my favorite sequence in Les Miz.

Anyone into Miss Saigon?  Apr 21 2012, 08:53:50 PM
"Please" is absolutely gorgeous - my favorite song in the score!

Anyone into Miss Saigon?  Apr 21 2012, 08:52:20 PM
I saw the original "Martin Guerre" in London in 1997, and it was one of the most thrilling theatrical experiences ever. The revised show, however, is a big disappointment.

Roundup from my NYC theater trip (16 shows in 9 days)  Jul 21 2011, 04:54:51 PM
I used all my resources and paid full price for only THREE of the shows -- Wicked, Mormon, and Anything Goes. (I did have to pay full price for Sleep No More, too.) I was able to use discount codes on everything else, even using the LINCTIX program for $30 ticket to War Horse.

I also use Audience Rewards and was able to use my points to see Mary Poppins for free.

Still expensive trip becuase it is NYC (hotels are killer on the budget), but this was my summer vacation!
