Jesse Eisenberg was totally confident and cute as a button. I kind of want to do him now.

They fired Taran Killam, and they still keep that Pete Davidson troll on the show.

I mean, if Elon Musk can keep a straight face in sketches, there's just no excuse for that Davidson thing to keep losing it.  At least we were treated to the sight of his unspeakable "Chad" character dying a hideous death in one sketch.

Chad almost always dies at the end though… it’s part of the bit.

I'm an SNL apologist, and I honestly believe the show's been in a pretty great place for a couple years. Elon's episode is the worst I've seen in a while. It just reminded me of the meandering out-of-touch days after Seth Meyers left.

Pete dates very famous women and is a celebrity. They use him for the Gen Zs.

Also, when your wife is funnier than you, you don't get to stay. Taran sucked.

I feel like Pete has not reached his potential. He needs a coach to do so but perhaps he does not care. In some sketches he looks like he is putting forth very little effort. Playing Cuomo is full of possibilities but Pete has not done the work....

He's been playing more characters and doing impressions, like Cuomo and Matt Gaetz. I agree though, he really needs to step it up. He showed how talented he is in The King of Staten Island, I want to see him apply himself

I loved the nod to Winslet discovering Wawa. I had just had a hoagie from there Saturday afternoon!

I thought for absolute sure the Keegan-Michael Key episode from last week was the season finale and that this challenging year ended on a delightfully high note. But then I woke up Sunday to discover the real season finale (Anya Taylor-Joy, Lil Nas X) waiting for me in my DVR, all sparkly rainbow sequins and mirror balls.

This is why viewers like me have been faithful to this show since 1975. It might have been one of the most perfect episodes they ever assembled. It demonstrated how a show like SNL can help us mark the history of the times we live through. Did I expect to be bawling through the cold open (Chris Rock: "That was THIS YEAR!"Weekly SNL thread: It's Pride Again!? No, I did not but I sure did.

I never saw The Queen's Gambit, but from the moment Anya-Taylor Joy floated out I was completely in love, like every self-respecting gay d'un certain age must be, right? She hit a homer on everything she did.

And then, all that gaiety. I have to say it was the best possible thing before the kick off of Modified Pride Month 2021. I feel like I have been waiting my whole life since 1975 for a lesbian to tell a gay on Saturday Night Live, “You don’t even read theory, Terrence,”  and for that gay to reply, “Sis, I read theory, yes, I read theory…!” I’m not even giving away the punchline, and that’s just one part of an extended “It’s Pride Again” video featuring a great appearance by Lil Nas X. He name checked Marsha P. Johnson. I mean, the theory argument took me right back to Stonewall 20 in 1989 and marching in the huge ACT UP contingent.

And Lil Nas X. I mean. Frankie Goes To Hollywood appeared on MTV about 36 years ago, but LNX? Holy smokes. All that AND an honest-to-god wardrobe malfunction that he troupered right through? I only regret the pole dance that might have been had he not split his pants.

So anyhoo, I guess what I am trying to say is, I can’t imagine a more endorphin-filled 90 minutes, the show’s first with a full audience back in the studio since who knows when. It was the perfect closing of this chapter (or start of the closing of this particular book). No matter who leaves or comes back to the cast in Fall, this was why I will stick by SNL.

Season 47 begins Oct 2nd!

I have to agree with Namo on the post above, the S46 finale is an all time favorite of mine. I’ll never hear “My Way” the same again.

You stopped watching in 2015, specifically because of the Father/Daughter Toyota ad parody. This happens when people take satire at face value.

Interesting how they gave one of the newbies James Johnson so much screen time. I liked him although he dies off at the end of sentences thus losing punch lines. Don’t know if it is a bad habit or nerves.

Just watched it and thought it was a pretty solid show. They pretty much hit every topic, even the Amazon drivers peeing in plastic bottles!

Noticed Colin decided not to join the rest of the cast at the end in wearing a mask.

That school board sketch had me in stitches. Glad they seem to be giving Ego Nwodim a more staring role.

I read it quickly and thought it was the same first name of the person who's picture they showed with his birth and death years after the show ended.

Bowen Yang was killing it! (10/16/2021) The Sleepy Store mattress sketch was priceless. Daniel Craig was pushing it unfortunately but his sketch was cute. Athari was very funny.

Well, we know Pete Davidson is not coming back. It was said that others are leaving and that opener seems to indicate that Kate McKinnon is leaving.

Yes it was leaked yesterday that besides Davidson, McKinnon, Aidy Bryant, Kyle Mooney, and Micharl Che are all leaving.  It seemed like everyone but Mooney had a moment where they acknowledged leaving.

Was never a fan of Davidson, but the show losing McKinnon, Bryant and Che is a huge loss. They haven't had this strong of a cast in years. Good luck replacing those three.

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

It's a process, not a single action. They'll be firing on all cylinders for the 50th anniversary (!). I want more Punkie Johnson.
