The first, between the two young lovers Hero and Claudio, is almost upset by a villains fiendish plot; the second, between the more mature not-yet-lovers Beatrice and Benedick, is hampered by the fact that the two begin by hating each other! Noting or nothing" means gossip, rumor and eavesdropping, and thus witty banter, secrets and trickery form the backbone of the play's comedy, intrigue and action.
