A NEW PLAY with book and lyrics by Pumpkin Theatre Producing Artistic Director, Jimi Kinstle and music by Ryan Michael Haase (Artistic Director, Stillpointe Theatre Initiative) based on the children's book The Hardest Word, by Jacqueline Jules. Quest of the Ziz Bird has been adapted to the stage by Pumpkin Theatre in collaboration with the Louise D & Morton J Macks Center for Jewish Education (CJE) (www.cjebaltimore.org) and the PJ Library as part of an outreach project for both organizations.

The Baltimore Playwrights Festival has announced its monthly public meeting to be held at 7:30 p.m. today, January 15, 2013, at Fells Point Corner Theater, 251 South Ann Street, Baltimore, MD 21231, 410-276-7837 (www.fpct.org). After the meeting, at 8:30 p.m., there will be a staged reading of The Senior and the Computer, a one-act play by Nancy Henley, followed by a discussion of the script with the playwright, director and actors. Both the meeting and the reading are free, and the general public and all BPF members are encouraged to attend.
Howard Arts Council 2013 Summer Camp Registration Now Open

Registration has begun for visual and performing arts summer programs at the Howard Arts Council (HCAC) in Ellicott City. Programs are open to the public, regardless of residency in Howard County, for students entering grades K-7. Campers must be at least 5 years of age by September 1, 2013 to be eligible for summer camp.
Chesapeake Shakespeare and Maryland Public Television Announce Collaboration

Maryland Public Television (MPT) and Chesapeake Shakespeare Company (CSC) are one of ten partnership organizations selected to participate in the SHAKESPEARE UNCOVERED National Community Outreach Initiative. This program partners public media stations with Shakespeare festivals and theatre companies across the country to raise awareness of the upcoming SHAKESPEARE UNCOVERED series, foster enthusiasm for Shakespeare's work at the local level, and engage and build new audiences for public media and the performing arts in creative and innovative ways.
Everyman Theatre Hosts 'Pay What You Can' Performance on Tuesday Night

Baltimore Symphony Orchestra OrchKids Artistic Director Daniel Trahey will be a featured speaker at TEDxBaltimore's 2013 event, "Baltimore ReWired" on Friday, January 25, 2012 at Morgan State University. The event's theme is "Reconceptionalizing the Urban Landscape." Mr. Trahey will describe how OrchKids' revolutionary methods of using music as a vehicle for social change is revitalizing young lives and entire neighborhoods in Baltimore City. His talk is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m. and will be followed by a performance by the OrchKids Orchestra.

Starting at 11:00 a.m., plays to be read are Someone Close to You by Melissa Borgerding, followed at 1:00 p.m. by Playful Poe by The Playwrights Group of Baltimore, and at 3:00 p.m. by Spring Chickens by Dennis Martin.
