The thrilling tale of the boy who never grows up is coming to the JBK Theatre at Frederick Community College (7932 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick) now through August 17. Tickets have now been released for individual sale for Tick, tick... BOOM! The rock musical is an autobiographical tale of a young composer on the brink of turning 30 and falling into oblivion. Three actors portray ten characters through fourteen songs to take the audience on the playwright/composer's journey that ignited an interest in Jonathan Larson's work and ultimately led to Broadway sensation, RENT. Larson originally began performing the piece as a solo work in 1990. Following his death in 1996, playwright David Auburn revised the work and adapted it for three actors. It opened Off-Broadway in 2001.

Her pink indulgence lands her at the doctor's office with Pinkititis, an affliction that turns her pink from head to toe - a dream come true for this pink loving enthusiast. But when her hue goes too far, only Pinkalicious can figure out a way to get out of this pink predicament.

Everyman Theatre has announced the directors attached to each of its six productions for the upcoming 2013/14 season. Renowned and award-winning director Walter Dallas will be making his Everyman debut with BY THE WAY, MEET VERA STARK next spring. Susanna Gellert, hot off of her work with the MY AMERICA project at Centerstage, will both be making their Everyman Theatre debuts this season. Founding Artistic Director Vincent Lancisi will direct the first and last shows of the season - THE GLASS MENAGERIE and TRIBES, respectively. And returning to Everyman will be two audience favorites - celebrated directors Donald Hicken and Derek Goldman.

Rehearsals began Tuesday for Animal Crackers, the first production of Center Stage's 2013-14 Season. This classic American musical comedy is set to feature City Paper Best Actor Bruce Nelson as Groucho Marx playing the ineffable Captain Spaulding. Under the direction of Northlight Theatre Artistic Director BJ Jones-who previously directed Center Stage's smash production of A Skull in Connemara-Animal Crackers begins previews on September 4 and runs through October 13.

The Howard County Arts Council is seeking nominations for the 2013 Howie Awards honoring individuals and businesses that have made significant contributions to the arts in Howard County. The 2013 Howie Awards will be presented at the Celebration of the Arts in Howard County on March 29, 2014, where members of the arts, education, government and business communities of Howard County will gather. Nomination forms are available online at the Arts Council's website, www.hocoarts.org. Nominations must be postmarked, emailed or faxed no later than November 1, 2013.

Applications for the 2014 Rising Star Performing Artist Professional Development Award are now available for download by visiting the "Celebration of the Arts" page at www.hocoarts.org. Applications may also be requested from the Arts Council by phone at 410-313-2787 or via email at info@hocoarts.org. The early no-fee application deadline is October 1, 2013. Applications submitted between October 2 and the final deadline of November 1 must be accompanied by a $10 application fee.

Wendy Baird's cabaret 'Stumbling On Happiness II' will be presented at Red Branch Theatre Company as the third evening in its four-part summer cabaret series. There are touching songs of love and loss, songs that transform our mood in an instant, songs that make us smile and those we swear shaped the people that we have become. Wendy Baird will stumble on happiness by sharing some of her favorite standards, contemporary show tunes, and light-hearted romps. It will be a fun evening of song and patter, poignancy and humor sure to entertain, provoke and inspire.
