The Children's Theatre at Way Off Broadway has been a part of The Way Off Broadway Dinner Theatre, a leader in the region's theater community and one of the area's premiere entertainment venues, since 1996 when it opened with an original production of Sleep Beauty. That was the beginning of what would become one of the most popular family entertainment spots in Frederick. To this day, the Children's Theatre at Way Off Broadway is the area's only children's lunch theater, offering a family-friendly meal before each show.

For its 2014 Season, the Children's Theatre's 18th season, it continues its tradition of bringing some of the most popular children's stories to life on the Frederick stage. From productions of The Three Little Pigs and Dora the Explorer Live! to Pinkalicious and Disney's Cinderella, Way Off Broadway has been the home to some of the most well known children's characters of all time.

With the 2014 Children's Theatre Season, the list of popular characters to appear at the theater will only continue to grow. The season kicks off withTilly the Trickster, a show based on the book by Saturday Night Light star Molly Shannon. Tilly will be followed by the swash-buckling adventure How I Became a Pirate. After the success of Disney's Aladdin and Disney's Cinderella during the 2013 Season, another Disney favorite will arrive at Way Off Broadway for the fall when Disney's Alice in Wonderland opens. For the holidays, Way Off Broadway's original 'Twas the Night Before Christmas returns to the Children's Theatre.

TILLY THE TRICKSTER
January 25 - April 5, 2014
Molly Shannon has created numerous unforgettable characters on Saturday Night Live and in movies such as SUPERSTAR and NEVER BEEN KISSED and now introduces young readers to her latest hilarious creation, TILLY THE TRICKSTER. Tilly is a mischievous girl who loves nothing more than causing a little trouble. From leaking cups to toothpaste-flavored cookies, Tilly has a trick for everyone: her mom, dad, brother, classmates, and even her teacher. But when the tables are turned and her family does some scheming of its own, will Tilly decide to change her trickster ways?

HOW I BECAME A PIRATE
April 26 - July 27, 2014
Set sail with Jeremy Jacobs as a band of pirates land on his beach and invite him to join their voyage. Young Jeremy is recruited to help dig for buried treasure and soon finds out that the best things in life aren't gold and silver. Join Jeremy as he learns the ins and outs of being a pirate from proper pirate manners to pirate etiquette. Aaaaarghhh you ready for fun on the high seas?

DISNEY'S ALICE IN WONDERLAND JR.
September 13 - November 8, 2014
Travel down the rabbit hole and join Alice's madcap adventures in Wonderland as she chases the White Rabbit, races the Dodo Bird, gets tied up with Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum, raps with a bubble-blowing Caterpillar, and beats the Queen of Hearts at her own game! Roles are plentiful, including three Cheshire Cats and dozens of other wonderfully wacky characters.

'TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS
November 15 - December 28, 2014
"'Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house . . ." is one of the most memorable opening lines in literary history. It is the opening to a poem that has become a staple of the holiday season. For Christmas, the Children's Theatre's original stage adaptation of 'Twas the Night Before Christmas returns. In this adaptation, a little boy named Charlie learns all about the magic of Christmas from none other than Santa Claus himself.

Children's Theatre performances are every Saturday afternoon and the 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month, as well as select added weekday performances throughout the year. Tickets are $17 per person with birthday party packages also available.
